Characterization of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli O130:H11 and O178:H19 isolated from dairy cows

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2013
Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) are isolated from human patients with bloody diarrhea, hemorrhagic colitis and hemolytic uremic syndrome. In the last years, the infections with non-O157 serotypes are increasing their frequency of association with ...

On the occurrence of gauge-dependent secularities in nonlinear gravitational waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We study the plane (not necessarily monochromatic) gravitational waves at nonlinear quadratic order on a flat background in vacuum. We show that, in the harmonic gauge, the nonlinear waves are unstable.

g9/2 AND h11/2 bands in121,123,125Cs [PDF]

open access: yesJournal de Physique Lettres, 1978
Cascades of stretched E2 transitions in 121,123,125Cs constitute the decoupled bands generated from a proton in the lowest orbital of the h11/2 shell. A ΔI = 1 sequence originates from a hole in the g9/2 proton shell. The results for both the h11/2 and the g9/2 bands imply a prolate shape of these nuclei.

Mitochondria and Neuromast Tagging With Fluorescent Gallium‐Triapine Analogues: In Cellulo MP FLIM and Zebrafish Live Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fluorescent BODIPY‐conjugated thiosemicarbazone ligands and their Ga(III), In(III), and Fe(III) complexes, inspired by Triapine, are developed as theranostic agents. Multiphoton FLIM and confocal microscopy in cancer cells and zebrafish reveal real‐time uptake, mitochondrial localisation, and whilst spectroscopic assays indicated preserved complex ...

Toward global paradigm change: beyond the crisis of the liberal world order

open access: yesEconomics: Journal Articles, 2019
This paper may be summarized by the following points. First, the crisis of the liberal world order arises from a misalignment of our social, economic and political domains of activity, along with a resulting destabilization of our physical environment ...

Public Spending Efficiency in the OECD: Benchmarking Health Care, Education, and General Administration

open access: yesReview of Economic Perspectives, 2020
In many OECD countries, changes in demography and health conditions are putting pressure on public finance. To prevent further expansion of government spending as a percentage of GDP, public spending efficiency will need to be raised.

Spins, Electromagnetic Moments, and Isomers of 107-129Cd

open access: yes, 2013
The neutron-rich isotopes of cadmium up to the N=82 shell closure have been investigated by high-resolution laser spectroscopy. Deep-UV excitation at 214.5 nm and radioactive-beam bunching provided the required experimental sensitivity.

PSMA8‐Containing 20S Proteasome Regulates Spermiogenesis and Male Fertility

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PSMA8 assembles s20S proteasome that degrades specific substrates in elongating spermatids. Degradation of s20S‐substrates activates translation of FXR1‐target mRNAs, which are essential for mitochondrial sheath formation and sperm morphogenesis.
