Will, Skill, Not Tool: Chinese university students' acceptance of generative AI for academic writing in informal English medium instruction settings

open access: yesBritish Journal of Educational Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract The generative AI (GenAI) has exhibited diverse functions in supporting academic writing, especially for university students who encounter both disciplinary content and academic English challenges in English medium instruction (EMI). However, existing studies have rarely addressed EMI students' behavioural intentions to use GenAI for academic ...

Discovery of a cryptic aminoacidic triad involved in the temperature adaptation of GH1 enzymes

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Cold‐active enzymes retain high catalytic activity at low temperatures but are characterized by thermal instability, a behavior not fully understood. Comparison between a cold‐active GH1 and its mesophilic counterparts highlights the role of a three‐residue motif (W‐M‐F) in conferring structural stability to a mesophilic GH1.

Immunogenicity of recombinant polytope constructs containing protective group A streptococcal antigens, J14 and H12

open access: yes, 2006
A number of polytope recombinant proteins were constructed that contained two group A streptococcal (GAS) protective epitopes, J14 and H12, in various combinations and molar ratios.

Layered Radial Aquifer Model for Open‐Pit Mine Closure with Managed Aquifer Recharge

open access: yesGroundwater, EarlyView.
A radially symmetric layered aquifer model (unconfined–aquitard–confined) coupled to a pit‐lake water balance is developed to screen managed aquifer recharge (MAR) after open‐pit mine closure. Dimensionless type curves quantify trade‐offs between pit recovery time, pumping/recycling, and unconfined mounding as functions of aquifer time scales, aquitard

Range of H12 and H2/H1 values expected for hard and soft sweeps.

open access: yes, 2015
Bayes factors (BFs) were calculated for a grid of H12 and H2/H1 values to demonstrate the range of H12 and H2/H1 values expected under hard versus soft sweeps.

Acceptance and Engagement in Artificial Intelligence–Supported Reading Among Primary School Learners of English as a Foreign Language

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly used to support language learning, yet little is known about how younger learners accept and engage with AI‐assisted reading. This study investigates primary school students’ acceptance of and engagement with an AI‐supported adaptive reading application for English as a Foreign Language (EFL ...

Isotope doublet peaks eluting with D12 before H12.

open access: yes, 2013
MS-spectra showing typical elution pattern for a crosslinked peptide in three consecutive LC-fractions (A, B, C) in a 192-well LC-separation. This crosslinked peptide has a theoretical mass MH+1712/1724 Da for H12/D12, and corresponds to the crosslink ...
