Free-form optimization of CFRP plate/shell structures in natural vibration problem

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2020
Because of its extremely high strength-to-weight ratio and specific elastic modulus, carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) has been widely employed in aerospace, automotive, sports equipment, civil engineering, and so on.

Redefining Dendritic Cell Vaccines: Synergistically Co‐priming DC and B Cells With Nanoparticles Loading Whole Cell Antigens Maximizes the Efficacy of DC Vaccines

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dendritic cells (DC) vaccine is an important type of vaccines. However, the limited efficacy of DC vaccines hinders their widely application. This study redefines DC vaccines and provides a new DC‐BC vaccine that have much better therapeutic efficacy.

Horizontal Pressure Gradient Parameterization for One‐Dimensional Lake Models

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, 2020
This work presents a new method for closure of horizontally averaged 1‐D thermohydrodynamic equations in an enclosed reservoir by parameterizing the horizontal pressure gradient usually omitted in 1‐D lake models. Horizontal pressure gradient is computed

Unraveling the Morphological and Functional Maturation Mechanisms Underlying Human Neural Development Using iPSCs‐Derived Neuronal Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs)‐derived neuronal model, Tian and colleagues reveal that voltage‐gated calcium channels Cav1.2 and Cav1.3, and their mediated calcium ion influx, are essential for early morphogenesis of human neuronal development, while ECEL1 underlies human neuronal functional developmental maturation through CALM3 ...

Thickness optimization of shell structure for controlling time-dependent responses

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2018
In this study, we propose a parameter-free optimization method to control time-dependent responses of a shell structure, where the optimal thickness distribution is determined without design parameterization.

Combined Photothermal and mTOR‐Targeted Therapy Overcomes Immune Evasion and Enhances Checkpoint Blockade Efficacy in Metastatic Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that photothermal therapy, while inducing immunogenic cell death in triple‐negative breast cancer, paradoxically activates the oncogenic mTOR pathway to drive immune evasion. To counter this, a smart nanocomposite is engineered to co‐deliver localized hyperthermia and mTOR inhibition.

An H1-Galerkin Expanded Mixed Finite Element Approximation of Second-Order Nonlinear Hyperbolic Equations

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
We investigate an H1-Galerkin expanded mixed finite element approximation of nonlinear second-order hyperbolic equations, which model a wide variety of phenomena that involve wave motion or convective transport process.
