Comparison of microanalytical methods for estimating H20 contents of silicic volcanic glasses [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Three methods of estimating H20 contents of geologic glasses are compared: (1) ion microprobe analysis (secondary ion mass spectrometry), (2) Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and (3) electron microprobe analysis using the Na decay-curve ...

New High-Pressure Phase of H20: Ice X

open access: green, 1984
H20 at 300 K has been studied up to 67 GPa by Brillouin scattering. A transition to a new form of ice occurs at 44 GPa. This is the tenth known solid form of H20 and may be the expected "symmetric-ice" structure.

Friction Stir Welding Aluminum Alloy H20-H20 Conventional and Overlap Joints Mechanical Properties [PDF]

open access: yesManufacturing Science and Technology, 2014
In this paper the effect of conventional and overlap joints with different depth in tensile properties of friction stir welded joint of aluminum alloys H20-H20 discussed in details. There were number of investigation in mechanical properties of conventional joints. In this paper overlap joint mechanical properties compared with conventional joints. The

An experimental investigation into the combustion properties, performance, emissions, and cost reduction of using heavy and light fuel oils

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2023
Heavy fuel oil (HFO) is a fuel that can be used in compression ignition engines because of its cheapness and low operating costs. However, heavy fuel oil is not compatible with most diesel engines and combustion systems in use.

Introducing the Texas Euclid Survey for Lyman Alpha (TESLA) Survey: Initial Study Correlating Galaxy Properties to Lyman-Alpha Emission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
We present the Texas Euclid Survey for Lyman-Alpha (TESLA), a spectroscopic survey in the 10 square degree of the Euclid North Ecliptic Pole (NEP) field. Using TESLA, we study how the physical properties of Lyman-alpha emitters (LAEs) correlate with Lyman-alpha emission to understand the escape of Lyman alpha from galaxies at redshifts 2 -- 3.5.

The 3-Loop Non-Singlet Heavy Flavor Contributions to the Structure Function g_1(x,Q^2) at Large Momentum Transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We calculate the massive flavor non-singlet Wilson coefficient for the heavy flavor contributions to the polarized structure function $g_1(x,Q^2)$ in the asymptotic region $Q^2 \gg m^2$ to 3-loop order in Quantum Chromodynamics at general values of the ...

SODA WARS: THE EFFECT OF A SODA TAX ELECTION ON UNIVERSITY BEVERAGE SALES [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We examine how soda sales changed due to the campaign attention and election outcome of a local excise tax on sugar-sweetened beverages. Using panel data of beverage sales from university retailers in Berkeley, California, we estimate that soda purchases
