Can Symmetry non-restoration solve the Monopole Problem?
We reexamine a recently proposed non-inflationary solution to the monopole problem, based on the possibility that spontaneously broken Grand-Unified symmetries do not get restored at high temperature.

Fractionalizing Majorana fermions: non-abelian statistics on the edges of abelian quantum Hall states [PDF]
We study the non-abelian statistics characterizing systems where counter-propagating gapless modes on the edges of fractional quantum Hall states are gapped by proximity-coupling to superconductors and ferromagnets.

Friction Stir Welding of Dissimilar AA6061-T6 to AZ31B-H24 Alloys [PDF]
Abstract: Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a solid-state joining process that uses a non-consumable tool to join two facing workpieces without melting the workpiece material. FSW is predominantly used for welding lightweight materials such as aluminum and magnesium alloys.

Friction Stir Welding of Dissimilar AA7075–T6 to AZ31B-H24 Alloys
In the present investigation, AA7075-T6 alloys and AZ31B-H24 were joined by the FSW process using the following range of parameters: rotational speed between 200 and 800 rpm, welding speed from 30 to 60 mm/min and a tilt angle from 1° to 3°. In some cases, a tool offset of 1 mm was used into Mg-based alloy.

Clean relaying aided cognitive radio under the coexistence constraint
We consider the interference-mitigation based cognitive radio where the primary and secondary users can coexist at the same time and frequency bands, under the constraint that the rate of the primary user (PU) must remain the same with a single-user ...
