Optimized Deep Learning Framework for Diabetic Retinopathy Based on Systematic Multi‐Stage Transfer Learning and Predictive Risk Stratification

open access: yesApplied AI Letters, Volume 7, Issue 2, June 2026.
A multi‐stage transfer learning framework systematically optimizes CNN architectures for diabetic retinopathy detection and risk stratification from fundus images. EfficientNetB7 achieves 96% accuracy while a survival‐inspired model generates continuous risk scores aligned with DR severity for clinically meaningful patient risk assessment.

Approximate Solutions of Time Fractional Diffusion Wave Models

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
In this paper, a wavelet based collocation method is formulated for an approximate solution of (1 + 1)- and (1 + 2)-dimensional time fractional diffusion wave equations.

Fault Strike Detection Using Satellite Gravity Data Decomposition by Discrete Wavelets: A Case Study from Iran [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 2019
Estimating the gravity anomaly causative bodies boundary can facilitate the gravity field interpretation. In this paper, 2D discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is employed as a method to delineate the boundary of the gravity anomaly sources.

The Haar wavelet characterization of weighted Herz spaces and greediness of the Haar wavelet basis

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2010
The authors study the class of dyadic \(A_p\)-weights in connection with dyadic maximal operators (where in both cases on considers dyadic cubes only) and show that one obtains results corresponding to the ones one gets for the usual \(A_p\)-weights and maximal operators.

Multi‐Scale Spatio‐Temporal Evidence Learning for Tropical Cyclone Unusual Track Forecasting Over the Western North Pacific

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 3, Issue 3, June 2026.
Abstract Despite significant advances in tropical cyclone track forecasting, unusual tracks remain a major challenge, primarily due to their substantial prediction uncertainty and inadequate representations. In this paper, we present the Tropical Cyclone Unusual Track Forecasting (TCUTF) model, a novel artificial intelligence‐based approach ...

THE NAITŌ HYPOSTASIS: NAITŌ KONAN (1866–1934) AND THE JAPANESE IMPERIALIST LEGACY IN THE HISTORIOGRAPHY OF MIDDLE‐PERIOD CHINA (800–1400 CE)

open access: yesHistory and Theory, Volume 65, Issue 2, Page 203-236, June 2026.
ABSTRACT In 1955, Hisayuki Miyakawa published an article that sought to introduce American and European scholars to the work of the Japanese Sinologist Naitō Konan (1866–1934). Miyakawa drew particular attention to what he called the “Naitō hypothesis”—that is, Naitō’s argument that China became modern during the Song dynasty (960–1279).

Parenting While Black: Ethnic‐Racial Socialization Among Netherlands‐Based Caribbean and West‐African Heritage Mothers

open access: yesJournal of Marriage and Family, Volume 88, Issue 3, Page 709-724, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective This study explores how and why West African and Caribbean heritage mothers in the Netherlands engage in ethnic‐racial socialization. Background West African and Caribbean communities have long histories in the Netherlands. Even though parents from these communities are tasked with helping children navigate mainstream Dutch culture ...

The Power of Spousal Support in Ministry: A Longitudinal Study of Social Support Profiles, Marital Quality, and Ministry Satisfaction Among United Methodist Clergy

open access: yesJournal for the Scientific Study of Religion, Volume 65, Issue 2, Page 374-385, June 2026.
ABSTRACT For many occupations, the toll of work‐related stressors on job satisfaction may be mitigated by social and emotional support. However, social support may be different for clergy, considering their unique work environment. Using data from the Clergy Health Initiative Longitudinal Survey, this study examines the relationship between different ...

Sparse orthogonal matrices and the Haar wavelet

open access: yesDiscrete Applied Mathematics, 2000
The authors discuss the sparsity of orthogonal matrices which have a column of nonzero entries. It is shown that the minimun number of nonzero entries in such a matrix of size \(m\times m\) is \[ (\lfloor m\rfloor +3)m-2^{\lfloor m\rfloor+1}. \] This is optimal, as the paper characterizes the matrices which achieve this number.
