Evolutionary dynamics of habitat use
Evolutionary Ecology, 1997I examine the evolution of alternate genotypes that use two habitats that differ in vegetative cover, focusing on the interplay between ecological dynamics of the community and changes in selective advantage. Facultative habitat choice can stabilize a predator population that would cycle if isolated in the more open habitat.

Assessing Habitat Use and Movement
2004Sharks occur in all of the world oceans and in waters that include deep-sea, oceanic, neritic, and estuarine habitats. In addition, a few specialized species also occur in rivers and lakes connected to the ocean. The occurrence of sharks within these broad regions is well understood for most species.

Habitat Evaluation Using Logistic Regression
1997A method for wildlife habitat evaluation, based on statistical methods and Decision Theory is developed. The aim is to provide tools for an adequate management of wildlife resources, replacing empirical appreciation of habitats with scientific evaluation, increasing predictability and reducing dependence on the empirical knowledge of experienced ...

Waterfowl Habitat Is Beneficial Use
Journal AWWA, 1995A farmer's activities in improving on an interconnected drainage system of a wetland site did not constitute “normal farming,” and the farmer was thus not exempt from the Clean Water Act's requirement that a permit be obtained for the discharge of dredged or fill material into waters of the United States.

Ecological Scale and Habitat Use
Ecology, 1987Population density can respond to habitat at different scales. If habitat selection occurs as a consequence of resource exploitation, the density of fine—grained consumers should reflect microhabitat variation. But if habitat use is controlled by a variety of selective pressures, it is no longer apparent whether density should respond to micro— or ...
