A Hybrid Data Assimilation Approach Integrating Kalman With Deep Learning‐Based Updates for Nonlinear and Non‐Gaussian Groundwater Systems

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract In hydrological research, data assimilation (DA) is a powerful tool for integrating observational data with numerical models, significantly enhancing predictive accuracy. However, nonlinear groundwater systems often exhibit high‐dimensional and non‐Gaussian characteristics in observations, parameters, and state variables, posing substantial ...

Addressing ecological challenges from a quantum computing perspective

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 3, Page 632-649, March 2026.
Abstract With increased access to data and the advent of computers, the use of statistical tools and numerical simulations is becoming commonplace for ecologists. These approaches help improve our understanding of ecological phenomena and their underlying mechanisms in increasingly complex environments.

Cointegrating Polynomial Regressions With Power Law Trends

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, Volume 47, Issue 2, Page 331-344, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The common practice in cointegrating polynomial regressions (CPRs) often confines nonlinearities in the variable of interest to stochastic trends, thereby overlooking the possibility that they may be caused by deterministic components. As an extension, we propose univariate and multivariate CPRs that incorporate power law deterministic trends.

Kidney Tumor Segmentation With a Multistage Adaptive Boundary‐Aware Network

open access: yesAnnals of the New York Academy of Sciences, Volume 1557, Issue 1, March 2026.
This study introduces MABS‐Net, a multistage adaptive boundary‐aware network for kidney tumor segmentation. By integrating boundary‐aware multiscale feature extraction, a three‐stage cascaded architecture, and contrastive learning with online hard example mining, this model effectively captures subtle edge cues and boosts tissue discrimination.
