According to the ancient resources, the Odrys which is one of the Thracian tribes came to the region with the migrations in the first millennium BC founded the first settlement in the region having been called Uscumada, Ordysia or Oreistias. This first settlement is located on the fertile lands where the rivers of Meric, Arda and Tunca intersect.
