Measurement of jet-substructure observables in top quark, W boson and light jet production in proton-proton collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
A measurement of jet substructure observables is presented using data collected in 2016 by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC with proton-proton collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV.

Measurement of differential cross sections and W + /W − cross-section ratios for W boson production in association with jets at s=8 $$ \sqrt{s}=8 $$ TeV with the ATLAS detector

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
This paper presents a measurement of the W boson production cross section and the W + /W − cross-section ratio, both in association with jets, in proton-proton collisions at s=8 $$ \sqrt{s}=8 $$ TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider.

Measurement of J/ψ production in association with a W± boson with pp data at 8 TeV

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
A measurement of the production of a prompt J/ψ meson in association with a W± boson with W± → μν and J/ψ → μ+μ− is presented for J/ψ transverse momenta in the range 8.5–150 GeV and rapidity |yJ/ψ| < 2.1 using ATLAS data recorded in 2012 at the LHC.

Parton Propagation and Fragmentation in QCD Matter

open access: yes, 2009
We review recent progress in the study of parton propagation, interaction and fragmentation in both cold and hot strongly interacting matter. Experimental highlights on high-energy hadron production in deep inelastic lepton-nucleus scattering, proton ...

Ultrafast Superradiant Scintillation from Isolated Weakly Confined Perovskite Nanocrystals

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 18, May 5, 2025.
Efficiency and scintillation velocity are critical for high‐energy and medical physics. These parameters, typically conflicting in conventional scintillators, are simultaneously optimized by exploiting the giant oscillator strength of CsPbBr3 nanocrystals, leading to radiatively accelerated (multi)excitonic emission with unity efficiency without ...

Fragmentation of Transversely Polarized Quarks Probed in Transverse Momentum Distributions

open access: yes, 2002
It is shown that the azimuthal dependence of the distribution of hadrons in a quark jet is a probe of the transverse spin of the quark initiating the jet. This results in a new spin-dependent fragmentation function that acts at the twist-2 level.

Electron beam monitoring of a modified conventional medical accelerator with a portable current transformer system traceable to primary electrical standards

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 52, Issue 4, Page 2581-2592, April 2025.
Abstract Background Ultra‐high dose rate radiotherapy (UHDR) delivers therapeutic doses at rates >40 Gy/s in a fraction of a second, aiming to enhance the therapeutic ratio through the FLASH effect. The substantial increase in UHDR beam current poses serious challenges for conventional active dosimeters.
