A spectroscopy for hadrons

A data compilation is given of 140 meson and baryon resonances. Using the principles of nuclear physics as a guide, we deduce a set of meson and baryon excitation levels (analogous to vibrational levels) and corresponding rotational bands. The excitations occur as «excitation towers» built on a set of fundamental ground states.

Hadron spectroscopy at CLAS

We report on hadron spectroscopy using the CLAS at Jefferson Lab. We present preliminary results from photoproduction experiments studying the spectroscopy of exotic mesons, cascades (Ξ's) and Dalitz decays of pseudo-scalar mesons in the largest data sample ever to be produced at photon energies of about 5 GeV.

NEW RESULTS IN HADRON SPECTROSCOPY

Hadron spectroscopy still follows basic 1966 physics of Sakharov, Zeldovich and Nambu. Constituent quark quasiparticles with effective masses and non-abelian color gauge electric and magnetic interactions fit all masses and magnetic moments of ground state mesons and baryons containing no more than one heavy or strange or heavy quark.
