Characterization of an intracellular cystatin homolog from the tick Haemaphysalis longicornis
Veterinary Parasitology, 2009Cystatins are tight-binding inhibitors of papain-like cysteine proteases. On the basis of amino acid sequencing, cystatins can be subdivided into three closely related families, family 1, family 2 and family 3. Among them, only family 1 cystatins are intracellular.

[Identification of Haemaphysalis longicornis and Rhipicephalus microplus].
Zhonghua liu xing bing xue za zhi = Zhonghua liuxingbingxue zazhi, 2014To establish a method combined morphology and molecular marker for identifying Haemaphysalis longicornis and Rhipicephalus microplus.Ticks were collected from domestic animals and wild environment in epidemic area of Hubei and Henan provinces where cases of fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome were prevalent.

Summary: Cattle that had been exposed to Haemaphysalis longicornis were as susceptible to Boophilus microplus as cattle that had never been exposed to either species of tick. Cattle with acquired resistance to both species ranked consistently for levels of resistance to each when infested separately. Concurrent infestation with H.

Veterinary Parasitology, 2012
The reproductive mechanism of Haemaphysalis longicornis is quite different from many other animal species. In this article, several characteristics of parthenogenetic and bisexual populations of H. longicornis were analyzed, including some important micro-structures, synchronized life cycle feature and sequences of mitochondrial 16S rRNA gene.

Differential Variation of Parthenogenetic and Bisexual Haemaphysalis longicornis (Acari : Ixodidae)
The Journal of Parasitology, 1976Morphological characters are measured from each tick specimen from samples of 10 "populations" of Haemaphysalis longicornis. The 10 populations consist of 6 diploid bisexual and 4 triploid parthenogenetic populations from Australia, Japan, and Korea.

Emergence of multidrug-resistant Haemaphysalis longicornis populations in China
Experimental and Applied AcarologyMany chemical acaricides have been used to mitigate the detrimental effects of Haemaphysalis longicornis. However, the excessive use of chemical acaricides may facilitate the development of resistance in H. longicornis. Larval packet tests (LPTs) were conducted on larvae aged 14-21 days collected from 10 counties in China to evaluate the effectiveness ...
