Intestinal intussusception in an adult caused by helminthic parasitosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Intestinal intussusception is an uncommon acute condition in adults and is most commonly caused by an intestinal tumor mass. Helminthic parasitosis is a widespread infection in Africa, and the load of worms is often high in individuals living in areas ...

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Modified Cajal's trichrome stain as a diagnostic aid in the study of epithelial pathology

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology, 2017
Background: Diagnosis of initial epithelial pathology maybe difficult in Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC), Carcinoma In Situ and other atypical epithelial malignancies, under routine Haematoxylin and Eosin (H and E) stain.

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Diagnosis of Basal Cell Carcinoma with Ex-vivo Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy in a Real-life Setting

open access: yesActa Dermato-Venereologica, 2023
Ex-vivo confocal laser scanning microscopy provides a rapid alternative to routine histological processing using haematoxylin and eosin-stained sections. Previous studies suggest high diagnostic accuracy in basal cell carcinoma.

Stain Removal Through Color Normalization of Haematoxylin and Eosin Images: A Review

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2019
Abstract Histopathology images are used for the diagnosis and examination of cancer cells. Preparing and scanning histopathology slides consist of numerous steps of which staining are an important process. But these staining procedures cause multitude problems as there may be variations in the slides due to multiple reasons.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Changes in the anti-inflammatory activity of soy isoflavonoid genistein versus genistein incorporated in two types of cyclodextrin derivatives

open access: yesChemistry Central Journal, 2012
Background The isoflavonoid genistein represents the major active compound from soybean, the vegetal product from Glycine max (Fabaceae). The aim of this study is to prove that genistein was incorporated in two semisynthetic cyclodextrins, beta ...
