Association Between Gas‐Free Cerebrovascular Reactivity (CVR) and Cognitive Function in Older Adults With a High Risk for Vascular Dementia

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Vascular cognitive impairment and dementia (VCID) is the second leading cause of dementia. Cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR) is a promising biomarker for VCID. However, CVR is not commonly measured in clinical practice due to logistical difficulties in applying a hypercapnia challenge during MR imaging. Purpose To investigate whether

Probiotic consumption reduces alveolar bone loss and kidney damage in pregnant rats with experimental periodontitis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis HN019 (B. lactis HN019) is a probiotic bacterial strain with immunomodulatory properties. Its benefits have been observed in healthy and systemically compromised animals with periodontitis (PD). Our objective was to investigate the local and systemic effects of the systemic administration of B.

Propranolol and haemodynamic response in cirrhosis

Journal of Hepatology, 1991
In the present study, we compared cirrhotic patients who had a decrease in the hepatic venous pressure gradient after propranolol intake to patients without a decrease. Twenty patients with cirrhosis and oesophageal varices were investigated during hepatic vein catheterization before and 90 min after an oral dose of 80 mg propranolol.

The Haemodynamic Response to the Interictal Epileptic Spikes

2007 29th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2007
We studied the blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) response to interictal epileptic spikes in a group of patients with focal epilepsy by simultaneous recording of electroencephalography (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). The detection of activated areas was performed by using an approach based on the theory of the General Linear ...

Haemodynamic responses to varying postural stress

Proceedings of 1994 20th Annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference, 2002
The authors present data demonstrating early cardiovascular responses to simulated gravity levels between 1G and -1G. A noninvasive, cardiac impedance cardiography system (the IQ System) was used to evaluate cardiac output (CO), stroke volume (SV), ventricular ejection time (VET), ejection fraction (EF), and pre-ejection period (PEP).
