How Can Inflation Contracts Discipline Central Bankers When Agents Are Learning?

open access: yesBulletin of Economic Research, Volume 78, Issue 1, Page 3-26, January 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper studies, in a new Keynesian model with a positive optimal output gap, how to design linear inflation contracts to shape the central bank's incentive structure when private expectations are based on adaptive learning. In this model, under rational expectations, inflation contracts could only partially deal with the time‐inconsistency

The Hahn Quantum System

open access: yes, 2017
Using a formulation of quantum mechanics based on the theory of orthogonal polynomials, we introduce a four-parameter system associated with the Hahn and continuous Hahn polynomials.

LU factorizations, q=0 limits, and p-adic interpretations of some q-hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials

open access: yes, 2006
For little q-Jacobi polynomials and q-Hahn polynomials we give particular q-hypergeometric series representations in which the termwise q=0 limit can be taken. When rewritten in matrix form, these series representations can be viewed as LU factorizations.

Plank theorems and their applications: A survey

open access: yesBulletin of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 58, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Plank problems concern the covering of convex bodies by planks in Euclidean space and are related to famous open problems in convex geometry. In this survey, we introduce plank problems and present surprising applications of plank theorems in various areas of mathematics.

On the spectrum of tridiagonal matrices with two-periodic main diagonal

open access: yesSpecial Matrices
We find the spectrum and eigenvectors of an arbitrary irreducible complex tridiagonal matrix with two-periodic main diagonal. This is expressed in terms of the spectrum and eigenvectors of the matrix with the same sub- and superdiagonals and zero main ...

$q$-Classical orthogonal polynomials: A general difference calculus approach

open access: yes, 2009
It is well known that the classical families of orthogonal polynomials are characterized as eigenfunctions of a second order linear differential/difference operator.

Identifying Patterns of Late Effects With Latent Class Analysis Among Adolescent and Young Adult Thyroid Cancer Survivors in California and Utah

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 14, Issue 23, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Thyroid cancer is one of the most common cancers in adolescents and young adults (AYA, 15 to 39 years), with an excellent 5‐year survival of 98%. However, treatments for thyroid cancer such as radioactive iodine and thyroid hormone suppression may increase the risk for multiple late effects (LEs).

An Introduction to the q-Laguerre-Hahn Orthogonal q-Polynomials

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2011
Orthogonal q-polynomials associated with q-Laguerre-Hahn form will be studied as a generalization of the q-semiclassical forms via a suitable q-difference equation. The concept of class and a criterion to determinate it will be given.

The role of orthogonal polynomials in the six-vertex model and its combinatorial applications

open access: yes, 2006
The Hankel determinant representations for the partition function and boundary correlation functions of the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions are investigated by the methods of orthogonal polynomial theory.

The Impact of a Buyer's Incentives and Organizational Structure on Suppliers' Quality

open access: yesJournal of Operations Management, Volume 71, Issue 8, Page 1185-1221, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Changes in a buyer organization's incentives and structure can have a significant impact on supply chain performance, such as the quality of sourced components. We examine this relationship using data from a unique quasi‐experiment where one of the two plants of a buyer introduced long‐term quality improvement incentives and a more organic ...
