Advances and challenges in hail research: report from the 4th European hail workshop 2024
Hailstorms cause substantial damage to buildings, crops, vehicles, and infrastructure in many regions worldwide. Despite notable progress in recent years, hail remains insufficiently understood and poorly represented in numerical weather prediction ...

Hail Damage – Grain Quality Survey [PDF]
There were two major hail events this summer during grain fill that resulted in significant corn crop damage in the path of the storm. The damage occurred over several thousand acres with some fields being a total loss and other fields having varying ...

An Implanted Tooth That Can Feel
To endow the implanted tooth with masticatory perception, herein we demonstrate that a 3D‐printed piezoelectric‐core/robust‐sheath implanted tooth can rebuild the sensing feedback, serving as “mechanoreceptors” in converting the mechanical chewing force to electrical signals, and up to brain through surrounding alveolar nerve system.

Improved Real‐Time Hail Damage Estimates Leveraging Dense Crowdsourced Observations
Severe hail storms are a leading cause of building damages in Switzerland, yet accurately observing hail using weather radar remains challenging. Opportunely, Switzerland benefits from a uniquely dense network of crowdsourced hail reports, providing an ...

PRECURSOR WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR HAIL-EVENT FORECASTING IN THE MOLDAVIA [PDF]
he present work analysed a statistically representative number of severe convective events which caused hail and material damage during 1990-2015. For these episodes heights of 0oC, -6oC, -10oC and -20oC isotherms were analyzed.

Doxorubicin (DOX)‐induced cardiotoxicity is a major limitation to its broader clinical application, while cardioprotective interventions often risk reducing the anticancer efficacy of DOX. To address these challenges, this work constructs an EDTA‐functionalized metal–organic framework that enhances tumor therapy and provides efficient cardioprotection ...
