Epidemiology of Diplodia Shoot Blight Outbreaks in Pine Forests After Hailstorm Events
The analysis of Diplodia shoot blight outbreaks in pine stands following hailstorms showed that the disease seems to follow a monomolecular model, with 80% of canopy damage occurring within 40 days after the hail event. Low accumulated precipitation in the days preceding the hailstorm appeared to predispose stands to outbreaks.

Projecting end-of-century human exposure to eastern Colorado tornadoes and hailstorms: meteorological and societal perspectives [PDF]
Includes bibliographical references.2020 Summer. The eastern half of Colorado is one of the most active areas for hailstorms and tornadoes in the U.S. An average of 39 tornadoes and 387 severe hail reports are tallied each year over this domain, and a ...

Abstract Two supercell thunderstorms that occurred in Del Rio and Burkburnett, Texas in the spring of 2020 produced greater than 5 cm diameter hailstones. Fourteen hailstones, eight from Del Rio and six from Burkburnett, were cut in half along the maximum principal axis. Half the hailstone was dissected at 0.5 cm increments, providing 198 subsamples of

Hailstorms frequently develop in Yun-Gui Plateau, Western China, which bring about significant economic damage. Due to the high terrain, these storms are typically shallow, rapidly evolving, and challenging to forecast. An X-band phased-array radar (XPAR)

A Microscopic Mechanism for the Separation of Charge in Thunderstorms
Abstract We propose a plausible microscopic mechanism for charge transfer during rebounding collisions between ice crystals and graupel within thunderstorms. The key concept is that charge is transferred through the diffusional transport of H+ ions across the ice‐ice contact junction during collisions.

During 11-13 March 1981 Telangana an Neighbourhood was affected by severe hailstorm caused extensive damage to life and property: In this paper an attempt has been made to bring out the synoptic situations. It. has been observed that the hailstorm was associated with marked upper air divergence, which was provided, by a jetstream, movement or a trough ...

This paper describes part of the early history of crop insurance in Switzerland as a process of adaptation to the hazard of hail. It argues that insurance is a means of socialising hazard through risk sharing and, therefore, that adaptation is an active ...

Small scale radar structure of Alberta hailstorms.
A radar study of two Alberta hailstorms has revealed the existence of small cellular radar echoes with durations of 10-30 minutes. These cells were found to group together to form storm families which existed for several hours.
