Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

HAIR DYE- AN EMERGING SUICIDAL AGENT: OUR EXPERIENCE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Hair dye poisoning has been emerging as one of the important causes of intentional deliberate self harm. To study the epidemiology of patients who consumed Super Vasmol (a commonly used commercial hair dye), profile of patients referred to the ENT ...

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

Influence of cosmetic hair treatments on hair of methamphetamine abuser: Bleaching, perming and coloring

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2021
Various cosmetic hair manipulations are known to interfere with the drug of abuse concentrations in hair. It is important to know the effects of cosmetic hair treatments as they may cause false-positive or false-negative results.

Allergy to hair dye [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ, 2007
Its incidence is rising, as more and younger people dye their hair For more than 100 years para-phenylenediamine (PPD) and other related members of the aromatic amine family have been the main agents used in permanent hair dyes, and more than two thirds of hair dyes currently contain PPD.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

HAIR DYE POISONING (An emerging emergency for airway surgeon- a case report) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Super-Vasmol, a cheap, freely-available hair dye isemerging as a major cause of suicidal poisoning in India. It contains potential toxins including paraphenylene diamine, resorcinol, sodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and propylene glycol which can ...

On‐Demand Activation of Thin Alginate Shell Encapsulated Volatile Liquid for Untethered Pneumatic Soft Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐changing liquids enable untethered pneumatic actuation in soft robotics but suffer from volatility and storage challenges. This work reports a simple method to encapsulate Novec 7000 within micron‐thin alginate shells via in situ injection and ionic crosslinking.

Substrate Stress Relaxation Regulates Cell‐Mediated Assembly of Extracellular Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Silicone‐based viscoelastic substrates with tunable stress relaxation reveal how matrix mechanics regulates cellular mechanosensing and cell‐mediated matrix remodelling in the stiff regime. High stress relaxation promotes assembly of fibronectin fibril‐like structures, increased nuclear localization of YAP and formation of β1 integrin‐enriched ...

Method to analyse and quantify the propensity of hair dyes to desorb from human hair fibre

open access: yesHeliyon
Background: The use of hair dyes to alter the aesthetics of human hair is a very popular consumer habit. Dyes and their precursors used in hair coloration have been investigated for safety both in terms of exposure of consumers during the dyeing process,
