We read with interest the recent paper by Rafaat1 describing hypertrichosis pinnae in infants born to diabetic women. We have noted the association for many years and have illustrated the observation in an article relating the adequacy of maternal diabetic control to patterns of fetal growth.2 Although the degree of hirsutism increases with poor ...

Hairy cell leukemia (HCL) is an indolent B-cell lymphoproliferative disease, characterized by splenomegaly and pancitopenia related to this. The lymphocytes present characteristic citoplasmatic projections and are positive for tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP).

Effects of nozzle structural parameters on yarn hairiness in jetring spinning system
, 2020In this study, the effects of the performance of air nozzles called jetring, which can be connected to a conventional ring spinning machine, over the yarn hairiness values were investigated.

Oral hairy leukoplakia was first described in homosexual men infected with the human immunodeficiency virus. It is thought to be caused by infection with both the Epstein-Barr virus and human papillomavirus. We report 59 cases of oral hairy leukoplakia.

Hairy cell leukemia is a chronic lymphoproliferative disorder that has been recognized as a separate clinical pathologic entity for the last 25 years. After a decade of discussions about the origin of the neoplastic cell, it has now been well established that hairy cells represent a certain, rather mature stage of B-cell differentiation.

Reducing yarn hairiness in ring spinning by an agent-aided system
Textile research journal, 2019An agent-aided system (AAS) for improving comprehensive properties of ring spun yarns with the aid of viscosity and surface tension of the agent is reported in this paper.

A novel analysis of spun yarn hairiness inside limited two-dimensional space
Textile research journal, 2019Surface hairiness of spun yarns is critical to the yarn post-processing deficiency and resultant fabric quality. Several test methods are available for measuring yarn hairiness but they cannot detect the accurate hair amount and precise hair length. This

Hairy cell leukemia is a rare B-cell neoplasm. When treated with either pentostatin or cladribine, complete and durable remissions can be secured and life expectancy for most patients is normal. A small minority of patients require alternative treatment with monoclonal antibodies or immunotoxins.

3D measurement of yarn hairiness via multi-perspective images
Photonics Europe, 2018Yarn hairiness is one of the essential parameters for assessing yarn quality. Most photoelectric yarn measurement systems are likely to underestimate hairiness because hairy fibers on a yarn surface are often projected or occluded in these two ...
