Endothelial Cell Proteins as Biomarkers in Susac Syndrome
ABSTRACT Objective Susac syndrome (SS) is a rare CD8+ T cell–mediated microangiopathy affecting the brain, retina, and auditory labyrinth. Endothelial injury is thought to be a central mechanism; however, no circulating disease biomarkers are known. We performed targeted proteomic profiling to identify circulating endothelial‐associated proteins as ...

Root hairs grow more slowly in xik mutants.
(a) Time series of DIC images of Col-0 and xik. Delay between images 6 min. Size bar indicates 15 μm. Young Col-0 root hairs (length < 200 µm) grew faster than those about to stop growing (length > 500 µm), compare first and third column.

ABSTRACT Objective There is a lack of studies on seizure outcomes associated with ofatumumab therapy in patients for relapsing anti‐N‐methyl‐D‐aspartate (NMDA) receptor encephalitis. We aimed to evaluate long‐term seizure outcomes of ofatumumab therapy for relapsing anti‐NMDA receptor encephalitis.

Development of a Disease Activity Index for the Assessment of VEXAS Syndrome (VEXAS‐DAI)
Objective Vacuoles, E1 enzyme, X‐linked, autoinflammatory, somatic syndrome (VEXAS) syndrome is characterized by a complex spectrum of inflammatory and hematologic manifestations. Clinical research to identify effective therapies is urgently needed but is hindered by the lack of validated outcome measures.

Cricket inspired sensory hairs on suspended membranes with capacitive displacement detection [PDF]
This paper presents the fabrication of artificial hairs of siliconnitride and SU-8 on suspended membranes for flow sensing applications. The suspended membranes contain electrodes for capacitive sensing of the rotation of the hairs.

This study explores the influences of calendering and surface treatment during direct ink writing (DIW) of thermochromic cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) on PET nonwovens. For the PVA‐coated nonwovens, calendering reduces pore size leading to reduced ink absorption and enhanced spreading. The NeverWet‐coated nonwovens improve thermochromic responses by

Strong Lead‐Free Bioinspired Piezoceramics for Durable Energy Transducers
We fabricated brick‐and‐mortar lead‐free piezoceramics with Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 monocrystal platelets as bricks and amorphous silica as mortar. The alignment of the bricks and the presence of the amorphous silica led to anisotropic residual stresses. These residual stresses increase the samples toughness, strength and durability while the brick alignment ...

Cell therapies typically rely on cold‐chain logistics and cryopreservation, limiting access and compromising cell quality. Here, a dual‐chamber device separates an oxygen‐supplying chamber from a hyaluronic acid cargo chamber, sustaining oxygen delivery for over 70 h and enabling ambient‐temperature shipment.
