Effect of Incorporation of Hairy Vetch and Rye Grown as Cover Crops on Weed Suppression Related with Phenolics and Nitrogen Contents of Soil

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2010
Characterization of the release of degradable components of cover crops is important for determining the quality of soil nutrients for the following crop and weed occurrence. We have examined the temporal changes in soil phenolic carbon (C) and nitrogen (

Herbicidal Activities and Crop Injury of Hairy Vetch Residues

open access: yesKorean Journal of Weed Science, 2011
This study was conducted to evaluate the growth inhibition of weeds and selectivity of crop species by hairy vetch residues. The growth of all the weed species was suppressed greater than 90% at the ratio 60:40 of hairy vetch residues and no weeds were emerged at 90:10 mixture in the greenhouse.

CRISPR/Cas‐Mediated Gene Editing in Plant Immunity and Its Potential for the Future Development of Fungal, Oomycete, and Bacterial Pathogen‐Resistant Pulse Crops

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pulses provide myriad health benefits and are advantageous in an environmental context as a result of their leguminous nature. However, phytopathogenic fungi, oomycetes and bacteria pose a substantial threat to pulse production, at times leading to crop failure.

Effects of green-manure and tillage management on soil microbial community composition, nutrients and tree growth in a walnut orchard

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
This study characterized the effect of green manures (February orchid, hairy vetch, rattail fescue and a no-green-manure control) and the termination method (flail or disk) on nutrient contents, enzyme activities, microbial biomass, microbial community ...

Post-harvest sown catch crops – results from two years of organic field trials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Post-harvest sown catch crops should be sown as early as possible in order to obtain maximum biomass and nutrient uptake in the harvested crop, as biomass production decreased by 2-3.5 percent per day, when time of sowing was postponed throughout August.

Mielite granulomatosa associada à síndrome hemorrágica devido ao consumo de Vicia villosa em um bovino [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
An unusual case of spontaneous Vicia villosa poisoning affected a 6-year-old Holstein cow. Although the most striking findings included a generalized hemorrhagic condition associated with granulomatous myelitis, histological lesions typically seen with ...

Legacy effects of 41 years of tillage and fertilization on biological nitrogen fixation and nutritional status of hairy vetch in a continuous cotton system

open access: yesAgricultural &Environmental Letters, Volume 11, Issue 1, June 2026.
Long‐term tillage and nitrogen fertilization in a continuous cotton–cover crop system influenced soil organic matter and nitrogen availability, shaping nitrogen acquisition strategies of a vetch cover crop. Conventional tillage promoted greater reliance on BNF, whereas no‐till systems favored soil‐derived nitrogen uptake and higher legume nitrogen ...

Hairy vetch cover crop affects weed diversity and composition in no-till sunflower [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Vicia villosa Roth, or hairy vetch, is one of the most productive cover crops (CC) in Mediterranean dry areas, with an interesting potential as dead mulch in no-tillage cropping systems.
