Design and loss analysis of a new self-decelerating PM in-wheel motor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper proposed a new self-decelerating PM in-wheel motor (SDPMIWM) which replaces the stationary ring of the conventional magnetic-geared motor with the stator teeth and is magnetized in Halbach Array.

Design and performance of a toroidal radiofrequency volume coil with intrinsic electromagnetic interference rejection for low‐field portable Halbach‐based MRI systems

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 1, Page 637-646, January 2026.
Abstract Purpose One of the intrinsic limitations of low‐field MRI is low signal‐to‐noise ratio, which can be further reduced by electromagnetic interference (EMI) due to the lack of a Faraday shielded room. To address this issue, we propose a novel radiofrequency (RF) coil design that is inherently less sensitive to EMI while maintaining high receive ...

Analytical field model of segmented Halbach array permanent magnet machines considering iron nonlinearity

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, 2021
The permeability of the iron is usually assumed to be infinite by the linear subdomain technique, leading to the neglect of magnet saturation. This study presents an analytical model of a segmented Halbach array permanent magnet machine by considering ...

Levitation of non-magnetizable droplet inside ferrofluid

open access: yes, 2018
The central theme of this work is that a stable levitation of a denser non-magnetizable liquid droplet, against gravity, inside a relatively lighter ferrofluid -- a system barely considered in ferrohydrodynamics -- is possible, and exhibits unique ...

Magnetic Field Analysis of Multi‐Segment Modulated Pole Motors Based on the Air Gap Domain Multi‐Harmonic Method

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
A subdomain analytical model for multi‐harmonic air‐gap subdomains is proposed to predict motor magnetic fields containing complex harmonic components. Theoretical analysis demonstrates that this model effectively reduces the matrix dimension during analytical computation, resulting in lower computational time costs for the same harmonic order while ...

Design of a Magnetic Field Mapping Rover System for a Neutron Lifetime Experiment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The beta decay lifetime of the free neutron is an important input to the Standard Model of particle physics, but values measured using different methods have exhibited substantial disagreement.

Effects of Segmentations on Sleeve Eddy‐Current Losses of FSCW Permanent‐Magnet Machine Considering Stator MMF Harmonics

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper investigates the impact of sleeve segmentation on eddy‐current loss in permanent‐magnet (PM) machines with fractional‐slot concentrated‐windings (FSCW) under different stator MMF harmonics. The concept of equivalent sleeve segmentation is introduced.

A Halbach array magnetic gear for auxiliary drives

open access: yesVestnik IGEU
A diesel locomotive must drive a significant number of units with different rated rotation speeds from a single diesel engine with minimal energy consumption. The mechanical and hydraulic drives currently in use demand high maintenance and specific oil quality, while electric drives are bulky and have lower efficiency.

Magnetic Equivalent Circuit Modelling for Flux Modulation Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Machine With YASA Topology

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
A magnetic equivalent circuit model (MECM) is proposed in this paper to analyse the flux modulation yokeless and segmented armature (FM‐YASA) machine rapidly, which is 423 times faster than three‐dimensional finite element and 2.9 times faster than two‐dimensional FE approximately.

Design and Development of a Magnetic Lead Screw With a Quasi‐Halbach Array

open access: yesIET Science, Measurement &Technology, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper reports on a study of a novel MLS with a quasi‐Halbach array and a rotor made of a SMC. The proposed topology has an array formed from a helix of discretized pieces of PMs axially and radially magnetized in its slider. Using FEA and static magnetic simulations, prototypes were assessed.
