Half-Heusler Alloys for Efficient Thermoelectric Power Conversion [PDF]
Half-Heusler (HH) phases (space group F43m, Clb) are increasingly gaining attention as promising thermoelectric materials in view of their thermal stability, scalability, and environmental benignity as well as efficient power output. Until recently, the verifiable dimensionless figure of merit (ZT) of HH phases has remained moderate near 1, which ...

Slater–Pauling Behavior in Half-Metallic Heusler Compounds
Heusler materials have become very popular over the last two decades due to the half-metallic properties of a large number of Heusler compounds. The latter are magnets that present a metallic behavior for the spin-up and a semiconducting behavior for the

Subamorphous Thermal Conductivity of Crystalline Half-Heusler Superlattices [PDF]
The quest to improve the thermoelectric figure of merit has mainly followed the roadmap of lowering the thermal conductivity while keeping unaltered the power factor of the material. Ideally an electron-crystal phonon-glass system is desired. In this work, we report an extraordinary reduction of the cross-plane thermal conductivity in crystalline ...

Terahertz Spectral Signatures of Ultrafast Spin Transports in Ferromagnetic Heusler Alloy
Although the Co‐based Heusler compounds are predicted to be half‐metals, their sub‐picosecond demagnetization dynamics upon laser excitation show a transition‐metal‐like behavior.

Enhanced thermoelectric performance in TiNiSn-based half-Heuslers [PDF]
Thermoelectric figures of merit, ZT > 0.5, have been obtained in arc-melted TiNiSn-based ingots. This promising conversion efficiency is due to a low lattice thermal conductivity, which is attributed to excess nickel in the half-Heusler structure.

A comprehensive review of exchange bias effect in Heusler alloys [PDF]
Magnetic Heusler alloys have been found to be stable above the room temperature which make it suitable for making magnetic based devices. Exchange biasing associated with the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic phase in Heusler alloys used in spintronic ...

Quantum oscillations of the j=3/2 Fermi surface in the topological semimetal YPtBi
The bismuth-based half-Heusler materials host a nontrivial topological band structure, unconventional superconductivity, and large spin-orbit coupling in a system with very low electron density.

Screening and Fabrication of Half-Heusler phases for thermoelectric applications
Half-Heusler phases have gained recently much interest as thermoelectric materials. Screening of possible systems was performed by ab-initio simulation using VASP-software. The energy-versus-Volume (E(V)) curves were calculated and calibrated. For TiCoSb,
