Oscillations of half-linear second order differential equations

open access: yesHiroshima Mathematical Journal, 1995
Let \(\varphi:\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}\) be defined by \(\varphi(s)=|s|^{p-2}s\), with \(p>1\) a fixed number. We extend Sturm's comparison theorem of the linear differential equation \[ {\textstyle {\frac{d}{dt}}} [r(t)u'(t)]+ c(t)u(t)=0 \] to the nonlinear differential equation \[ {\textstyle {\frac{d}{dt}}} \{r(t)\varphi(u'(t))\}+ c(t)\varphi(u(t))=0,

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

An extension of Milloux's theorem to half-linear differential equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2000
A theorem of Milloux (1934) concerning the Sturm-Liouville differential equations is extended to the so-called half-linear differential equations.

Oscillation and nonoscillation of half-linear Euler type differential equations with different periodic coefficients

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, we compute explicitly the oscillation constant for certain half-linear second-order differential equations having different periodic coefficients. Our result covers known result concerning half-linear Euler type differential equations with

Morphology of passivating organic ligands around a nanocrystal

open access: yes, 2017
Semiconductor nanocrystals are a promising class of materials for a variety of novel optoelectronic devices, since many of their properties, such as the electronic gap and conductivity, can be controlled.

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Oscillation criteria for third-order functional half-linear dynamic equations

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2017
In this paper, we study the third-order functional dynamic equation { r 2 ( t ) ϕ α 2 ( [ r 1 ( t ) ϕ α 1 ( x Δ ( t ) ) ] Δ ) } Δ + q ( t ) ϕ α ( x ( g ( t ) ) ) = 0 , $$ \bigl\{ r_{2}(t)\phi_{\alpha_{2}} \bigl( \bigl[ r_{1}(t) \phi _{\alpha _{1}} \bigl(

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

When Does an Ensemble of Matrices with Randomly Scaled Rows Lose Rank?

open access: yes, 2015
We consider the problem of determining rank loss conditions for a concatenation of full-rank matrices, such that each row of the composing matrices is scaled by a random coefficient.
