Dynamical Response of Two Axially Pre-Strained System Comprising of a Covering Layer and a Half Space to Rectangular Time-Harmonic Forces

open access: yes, 2009
The time-harmonic dynamical stress field in the system comprising two axially pre-stressed covering layer and two axially pre-stressed half space was studied under the action of uniformly distributed forces on free face plane of the covering layer. It is

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Quality evaluation in diagnostic radiology: computer simulation for half-value layer investigation

open access: yes, 2007
A camada semi-redutora (CSR), definida como a espessura de um material absorvedor que colocado sob um feixe de raios-X reduz sua intensidade à metade, é um parâmetro que deve ser avaliado periodicamente nos programas de garantia de qualidade em ...

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.

Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

Surface waves in a system: an elastic layer on a fluid half-space

open access: yes, 2005
Исследованы свойства низших нормальных волн в упругом слое на жидком полупространстве. Асимптотический анализ дисперсионного уравнения при больших волновых числах показал, что в этой волноводной структуре существуют две разные поверхностные волны. Первая

Cloudy band observations for annual layer counting on the GRIP and NGRIP, Greenland, deep ice core samples (scientific note)

open access: yes, 2003
P(論文)Cloudy band stratigraphy was observed in the GRIP and NGRIP, Greenland ice cores. Gray value profiles obtained from the photographic recording were analyzed to extract annual layer signals.

On the 2D plane strain problem for a harmonic stress applied to an impervious elastic layer resting on a porous elastic half space

open access: yes, 1997
We solve here for stresses and pore pressure induced in a medium comprising of an impervious elastic layer resting on a water saturated porous elastic half space when the upper surface of the layer is acted upon by a normal stress field varying ...

From Shear to Sound: Mechanics–Acoustics Mapping of TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) lattices are mapped across mechanical and acoustic performance, revealing that descriptors validated in compression fail under shear. First‐time comparison with trusses included. A transition from porous to resonance‐driven absorption emerges at 25% density.
