Seasonal shifts in network structure and species roles in a tropical island plant–flower visitor community Cambios estacionales en la estructura de la red de interacciones entre plantas y visitantes florales y en los roles de las especies en una comunidad insular tropical

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
Constant visitation rates across the flowering season masked major shifts in plant and flower visitor interaction structure, specialization, species roles and trait‐driven patterns shaping interaction intensity. Plants and flower visitors changed ecological roles over time, with native flower visitors playing key roles in maintaining network cohesion ...

Twenty New Records of Bees (Hymenoptera, Apoidea) for Sardinia (Italy)

open access: yesInsects, 2021
In Sardinia, the second largest Mediterranean island, 316 species of bees are known. Here, for the first time, the following 20 taxa are reported: Colletes cunicularius (Linnaeus, 1761), and C. eous Morice, 1904 (Colletidae); Andrena humilis Imhoff, 1832,

Mapping wild bee diversity and flower use for an effective conservation of the Doñana biodiversity hotspot

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
We compiled the first checklist of wild bees in Doñana Protected Area, documenting 385 species, including three vulnerable and one endangered species listed in the Red List. Bee species exhibit diverse floral preferences, highlighting the need to incorporate plant–pollinator interactions and the role of plants in conservation and management strategies ...

Parapygmephorus crossi (Acari, Heterostigmata, Neopygmephoridae), a mite species new to fauna of Iran

open access: yesPersian Journal of Acarology, 2018
There are 21 genera in the family Neopygmephoridae (Acari: Heterostigmata: Pygmephoroidea) (Khaustov and Mandelshtam 2017) in which many of them are associated with various arthropods including Chilopods, spiders, bees, ants, beetles and termites ...

Roadside pollinator populations and the negative impact of intensive roadside vegetation maintenance

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
Less intensively managed roadsides had higher numbers of flower flies and bees; bee diversity was also higher in those roadsides. Community composition was similar across both management types, indicating that roadsides support a fairly homogeneous pollinator community, regardless of management.

Bee diversity and floral resources along a disturbance gradient in Kaya Muhaka Forest and surrounding farmlands of coastal Kenya

open access: yesJournal of Pollination Ecology, 2017
Bees provide important pollination services that maintain native plant populations and ecosystem resilience, which is critical to the conservation of the rich and endemic biodiversity of Kaya forests along the Kenyan Coast.

Redefinition of the sexstrigatus group of Lasioglossum (Hemihalictus) Cockerell, 1897 (Hymenoptera, Apoidea, Halictidae), with a revision of Japanese species

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Taxonomy, 2021
I propose a redefinition of the sexstrigatus group of Lasioglossum (Hemihalictus) Cockerell, 1897, including a phylogenetic analysis. This group is characterised by a combination of the following 12 characteristics: male antenna short, not attaining to ...

Mixed‐vertebrate pollination traits and pollinators of Haageocereus acranthus (Cactaceae) in a lomas desert ecosystem of coastal Peru

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
In a lomas desert ecosystem of coastal Peru, the columnar cactus Haageocereus acranthus shows traits and interactions consistent with a mixed‐vertebrate pollination system (hummingbirds and bats), with no detectable differences between flower colour morphotypes in either traits or interactions.
