Inducing Ferromagnetism by Structural Engineering in a Strongly Spin‐Orbit Coupled Oxide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Magnetic materials with strong spin‐orbit coupling (SOC) are essential for the advancement of spin‐orbitronic devices, as they enable efficient spin‐charge conversion, complex magnetic structures, spin‐valley physics, topological phases and other exotic phenomena.

Ti6Al4V‐Bioglass‐Copper Composites for Load‐Bearing Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We have designed and manufactured a novel Ti64‐based composite by adding 45S5 bioglass (BG) and copper (Cu). Adding BG on titanium improves wear resistance and biocompatibility, whereas Cu addition improves mechanical strength while providing inherent lifelong bacterial resistance.

Efimov Trimers under Strong Confinement

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2014
The dimensionality of a system can fundamentally impact the behavior of interacting quantum particles. Classic examples range from the fractional quantum Hall effect to high-temperature superconductivity.

Study on Environmental Control Methods of the Anterior Room During the Limited Opening to the Public of Burnt Wall Paintings in the Main Hall of the Treasure House at Horyu-ji Temple [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The Main Hall of Horyuji Temple was damaged by fire in 1949, not only in the building but also in the preserved wall paintings. The wall paintings that survived the fire damage are national important cultural properties and, because of concerns about ...

Unveiling the Role of Curvature in Carbon for Improved Energy Release of Ammonium Perchlorate

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
High‐curvature carbon materials identified via machine learning and simulation can enhance the heat release and combustion performance of ammonium perchlorate. ABSTRACT The catalytic role of carbon curvature in the thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP) remains largely unexplored. To address this gap, this study employs machine learning and

Tunable Enhancement of T Cell Expansion Through Modulation of Stiffness and Adhesion Receptor Engagement in an Engineered Hydrogel Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a hydrogel scaffold with controlled substrate stiffness and ligand functionalization for cell culture. Stiff substrates presenting CD3/CD28/CD2 ligands induce 2000‐fold expansion of T cells; this is 68% greater than the clinical standard (Dynabeads) and the first hydrogel capable of large‐scale expansion. Although expanding at a lower yield,

Revolutionen i Sæby

open access: yesKulturstudier, 2013
The revolution in Saeby   In 1790, the citizens of the tiny town of Saeby in northern Jutland demanded a meeting at the Town Hall to confront the town bailiff about his abuse of power as chief of police, but the bailiff refused to obey any “self-made

Rule-based fault diagnosis of hall sensors and fault-tolerant control of PMSM

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2013
Hall sensor is widely used for estimating rotor phase of permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM). And rotor position is an essential parameter of PMSM control algorithm, hence it is very dangerous if Hall senor faults occur. But there is scarcely any research focusing on fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control of Hall sensor used in PMSM. From this

Microscopic Insights into Magnetic Warping and Time‐Reversal Symmetry Breaking in Topological Surface States of Rare‐Earth‐Doped Bi2Te3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic doping of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 with erbium adatoms induces out‐of‐plane magnetism and breaks time‐reversal symmetry, opening a Dirac gap and driving a Fermi surface transition from hexagonal to star‐of‐David geometry. Microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic dichroism reveal atomically controlled magnetic interactions that tailor the

Hund's Rule for Monopole Harmonics, or Why the Composite Fermion Picture Works

open access: yes, 1998
The success of the mean field composite Fermion (MFCF) picture in predicting the lowest energy band of angular momentum multiplets in fractional quantum Hall systems cannot be found in a cancellation between the Coulomb and Chern--Simons interactions ...
