State of the Field: Royal Studies and Court Studies
Abstract Monarchy, as the world's oldest and most enduring form of political organization, is an area that has attracted the attention of scholars from a range of disciplines. Two connected and complementary fields embody this interdisciplinary study of monarchy and monarchies: royal studies, which takes an all‐encompassing approach to monarchy, and ...

Modeling the Hall thruster [PDF]
The acceleration of the plasma in the Hall thruster to supersonic velocities is examined by the use of a steady state model. Flows that are smooth across the sonic transition plane are found. The possibility of generating flows in which the acceleration across the sonic plane is abrupt, is also studied.

Rayleigh Instability in Hall Thrusters
38th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference & Exhibit, 2002Gradient-driven Rayleigh-type instabilities in Hall plasma thrusters are analyzed using linearized two-fluid hydrodynamic equations. Necessary instability conditions and a general criterion for stability of azimuthally propagating perturbations are derived.
