Halloysite-organic Complexes

Nature, 1946
I HAVE recently directed attention1 to the complexes which montmorillonite forms with polyhydric alcohols, a subject which has been further discussed in a paper by Bradley2. In these complexes, the alcohol takes the role of water in hydrated montmorillonite, and adsorption depends on polar forces (or secondary valences) only, not on base exchange.

Characterization of polylactic acid/halloysite nanotubes bionanocomposite films for food packaging

, 2020
The application of biopolymers as food packaging materials is limited because they exhibit low mechanical, thermal, and barrier properties. However, this limitation can be countered by adding nano-sized fillers to the biopolymers to prepare ...

Halloysite Polymer Nanocomposites

2016
Abstract Naturally occurring nanotubular halloysite exhibits a number of interesting characteristics, which make it a promising candidate for fabricating polymer-based nanocomposites for engineering and functional applications. The main attractive features of halloysite include its high mechanical strength/modulus, special lumen structure, essential ...

Surface Modifications of Halloysite

2016
Abstract Tubular halloysite is a naturally occurring clay mineral with a characteristic lumen surface, as well as an interlayer surface and an external surface. The chemical environment endows these surfaces with specific chemical reactivity, enabling site-specific surface modification of halloysite. The lumen surface, covered by Al–OH groups, can be

Novel acid-based geopolymer synthesized from nanosized tubular halloysite: The role of precalcination temperature and phosphoric acid concentration

, 2020
Halloysite is a hydrated polymorph of kaolinite but possesses a distinctive nanosized tubular structure and surface reactivity. The microstructure and mechanical performance of geopolymers derived from calcined halloysite via acid-activation were ...

Halloysite behaving badly: geomechanics and slope behaviour of halloysite-rich soils

Clay Minerals, 2016
AbstractHalloysite-rich soils derived fromin situweathering of volcanic materials support steep stable slopes, but commonly fail under triggers of earthquakes or rainfall. Resulting landslides are slideflow processes, ranging from small translational slides to larger rotational failures with scarps characteristic of sensitive soils.

Amylose wrapped halloysite nanotubes

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2011
Abstract Amylose was isolated from starch-rich yam, Dioscorea opposita Thunb. and used to prepare a halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) supramolecular structure by mechanical force. The thus obtained amylose wrapped halloysite nanotubes (amylose-HNTs) were characterized subsequently.

Einlagerungsverbindungen in wasserarmem Halloysit
