Reliability of metatarsus adductus angle and correlation with hallux valgus
Foot and Ankle Surgery, 2012Metatarsus adductus is a common congenital foot deformity. Variable prevalence values were reported using different techniques in different populations. Numerous radiological measurements have been proposed to assess this deformity with a paucity of studies reporting the reliability of these methods. The metatarsus adductus angle was shown to correlate

Intermetatarsal Angle After First Metatarsophalangeal Joint Arthrodesis for Hallux Valgus
Foot and Ankle International, 2006Background: First metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint arthrodesis is commonly done for hallux valgus with an arthritic joint. In patients with a wide preoperative first intermetatarsal (IM) angle an important question is whether the metatarsus varus will be corrected by the first MTP joint fusion alone or whether an additional basal osteotomy is necessary.

Hallux set angle. A new radiographic measurement for hallux valgus
Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, 1994The authors introduce a unique and clinically oriented technique for evaluation of hallux abducto valgus deformity and its operative correction. A new concept in the application of the Austin osteotomy is also presented.

Background: Hallux valgus is a lateral deviation of the great toe, which results in a bony prominence at the MTP joint. It is one of the most prevalent diagnoses affecting up to 23% of women, aged 18 to 65 and around 35% of women over 65 years of age are at risk of developing hallux valgus.

Hallux Valgus in Men: Effect of the Distal Metatarsal Articular Angle on Hallux Valgus Correctiong
Foot & Ankle International, 1997The results of hallux valgus correction were reviewed for 34 male patients (41 feet). The severity of the preoperative deformity determined the operative technique of correction. A distal soft tissue procedure with proximal first metatarsal osteotomy was performed in 30 patients (35 feet) with an average correction of the hallux valgus angle of 22°.

Background: Hallux valgus (HV) is a condition characterized by the lateral deviation of the first phalanx and medial deviation of the first metatarsal, leading to subluxation of the first metatarsophalangeal joint. Various orthotic applications are employed in the treatment of HV deformity.
