Halogen Bond Asymmetry in Solution [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2018
Halogen bonding is the noncovalent interaction of halogen atoms in which they act as electron acceptors. Whereas three-center hydrogen bond complexes, [D···H···D]+ where D is an electron donor, exist in solution as rapidly equilibrating asymmetric species, the analogous halogen bonds, [D···X···D]+, have been observed so far only to adopt static and ...

Halogen-bonded shape memory polymers

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
AbstractHalogen bonding (XB), a non-covalent interaction between an electron-deficient halogen atom and a Lewis base, is widely adopted in organic synthesis and supramolecular crystal engineering. However, the roadmap towards materials applications is hindered by the challenges in harnessing this relatively weak intermolecular interaction to devise ...

Enhanced Li‐Ion Battery Performance with Hybrid MXene/GnR Electrodes: Heterojunctions and Engineered Architectures Supported by DFT Mechanistic Studies for Improved Rate Performance, Stability & Capacity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) remain central to energy storage but suffer from slow ion transport and degradation. Here, we present a binder‐free Ti3C2Tx MXene/GnR hybrid electrode with a porous 3D architecture formed via freeze casting. The structure enhances conductivity, ion transport, and stability, delivering 401 mAh/g, ∼97% efficiency, and 92 ...

Halogen bonding stabilizes a cis-azobenzene derivative in the solid state: A crystallographic study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Crystals of trans- and cis-isomers of a fluorinated azobenzene derivative have been prepared and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The presence of F atoms on the aromatic core of the azobenzene increases the lifetime of the metastable ...

Halogen bonds in biological molecules [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2004
Short oxygen–halogen interactions have been known in organic chemistry since the 1950s and recently have been exploited in the design of supramolecular assemblies. The present survey of protein and nucleic acid structures reveals similar halogen bonds as potentially stabilizing inter- and intramolecular interactions that can affect ligand binding and ...

Crystal structure of 7-iodo-4-oxo-4H-chromene-3-carbaldehyde

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2016
In the title compound, C10H5IO3, an iodinated 3-formylchromone derivative, the non-H atoms are essentially coplanar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0344 Å), with the largest deviation from the least-squares plane [0.101 (3) Å] being found for the formyl O atom. In

Investigation of Halogen Substitution Effects in π‐Conjugated Organic Ligands of Chiral Hybrid Perovskites on Their Chiroptical Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The role of novel thiophene‐based ligands with halogen substitutions in enhancing the chiroptical and optoelectronic properties of 2D chiral HOIPs has been investigated. By tailoring ligand design, enhanced CD and CPL properties are achieved, with improved CPL discrimination in photodetectors.
