Do Halogen–Hydrogen Bond Donor Interactions Dominate the Favorable Contribution of Halogens to Ligand–Protein Binding?

open access: yesJournal of Physical Chemistry B, 2017
Halogens are present in a significant number of drugs, contributing favorably to ligand–protein binding. Currently, the contribution of halogens, most notably chlorine and bromine, is largely attributed to halogen bonds involving favorable interactions ...

Composition, structure and fluid regime of differentiated porphyritic intrusion Magnitogorsk iron-ore deposit (Southern Urals)

open access: yesЛитосфера, 2016
Case study of the differentiated subvolcanic porphyritic intrusion underlying Magnitogorsk skarn-magnetite deposit revealed regular relations between petrochemistry features of the rocks and composition of halogens (Cl and F) in the accessory apatite ...

Halogen (F, Cl, Br, and I) Devolatilization During Prograde Subduction: Insights From Western Alps Ophiolites

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
In order to examine the progressive chemical evolution of halogens (F, Cl, Br, I) in altered ocean crust (AOC) during prograde subduction, this study compares bulk and in situ halogen concentrations in mafic samples from three petrogenetically related ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Participation of the Halogens in Photochemical Reactions in Natural and Treated Waters

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
Halide ions are ubiquitous in natural waters and wastewaters. Halogens play an important and complex role in environmental photochemical processes and in reactions taking place during photochemical water treatment.

Organic Electrochemical Transistor Channel Materials: Copolymerization Versus Physical Mixing of Glycolated and Alkoxylated Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work discusses the use of blended channel materials in OECTs. It explores how mixing glycolated and alkoxylated polymers in various ratios offers a simpler and more efficient route to tuning OECT properties. The performance of the polymer blends is compared to the corresponding copolymers, demonstrating similar OECT characteristics, swelling ...

Atomic Size Misfit for Electrocatalytic Small Molecule Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores the application and mechanisms of atomic size misfit in catalysis for small molecule activation, focusing on how structural defects and electronic properties can effectively lower the energy barriers of chemical bonds in molecules like H2O, CO2, and N2.
