A pharmacological and toxicological evaluation of Haloxylon recurvum
Natural Product Research, 2008Haloxylon recurvum Bunge ex Boiss (Chenopodiaceae) is distributed chiefly from the Mediterranean region to Central and South Asia and traditionally applied externally for a variety of disorders. We investigated the in vivo toxic potential of crude methanolic extract of the whole plant and its n-hexane, chloroform, butanol, ethylacetate and aqueous ...

Growth simulation for a desert shrub Haloxylon ammodendron
2010 International Conference on Audio, Language and Image Processing, 2010A revised dual-scale automation was developed to simulate plant architecture of a desert shrub, Haloxylon ammodendron, according to its morphological characteristics. The above-ground part was simulated by a basic structural unit of shoot which was simplified from the internodal segment and squama (the degraded leaf).

Allometric variability of Haloxylon species in Central Asia
Forest Ecology and Management, 2012Abstract The Haloxylon vegetation in Central Asia has undergone vast changes throughout the last century, which has lead to a strong degradation and desertification of the desert ecosystems in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. In terms of combating desertification and restoration of ecosystems, two pilot-projects recently are aiming at the ...

Isolation and cholinesterase-inhibition studies of sterols from Haloxylon recurvum
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2006Haloxysterols A-D (1-4), new C-24 alkylated sterols, have been isolated from the chloroform soluble fraction of Haloxylon recurvum, along with five known sterols 5-9, which are reported for the first time from this species. Their structures were determined by means of 1D- and 2D-NMR techniques.

Genetic diversity and environmental associations of sacsaoul ( Haloxylon ammodendron )
SPIE Proceedings, 2003Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers were used to assess levels and patterns of genetic diversity in H. ammodendron (Chenopodiaceae). A total of 117 plants from 6 subpopulations on oasis-desert ecotone was analyzed by 16 arbitrarily chosen primers resulting in highly reproducible RAPD bands.
