Nonautonomous Linear Hamiltonian Systems: Oscillation, Spectral Theory and Control

open access: closed, 2016
This book is devoted to a study of the oscillation theory of nonautonomous linear Hamiltonian systems and that of a spectral theory adapted to such systems. Some methods of topological dynamics and ergodic theory, including Lyapunov exponents, exponential dichotomies, and rotation numbers are applied to this study.

Control of an underactuated-slender-hull unmanned underwater vehicle using Port-Hamiltonian theory

open access: closed2013 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics, 2013
This paper presents a control design for tracking of attitude and speed of an underactuated slender-hull unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV). The control design is based on Port-Hamiltonian theory. The target dynamics (desired dynamic response) is shaped with particular attention to the target mass matrix so that the influence of the unactuated dynamics ...

Modeling and Control of Multiphase Interleaved Fuel-Cell Boost Converter Based on Hamiltonian Control Theory for Transportation Applications

IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification, 2020
This article presents a multiphase interleaved boost converter supplied by a fuel-cell (FC)/reformer power source for highly dynamic transportation applications. A control theory based on the Hamiltonian function approach is considered. Using the port-controlled Hamiltonian system, we propose simple solutions to the dynamic performance and convergence ...

PMSM Control with Port-Controlled Hamiltonian Theory

open access: closedFirst International Conference on Innovative Computing, Information and Control - Volume I (ICICIC'06), 2006
The goal of this paper is to control PMSM (permanent magnet synchronous motor) with PCH (Port-Controlled Hamiltonian) theory. PCH is a kind of nonlinear control method. Energy-shaping approach is the essence of passivity-based control. With the definition of generalized passive Hamiltonian system, the PCH structure of permanent magnet synchronous motor

Hamiltonian theory based coordinated nonlinear control of generator excitation and STATCOMs

open access: closedNorth American Power Symposium 2010, 2010
A coordinated controller for generator excitation and STATCOMs is studied based on the Hamiltonian function method. The Hamiltonian realization structure for multimachine power systems including STATCOMs is developed leading to a proposed coordinated scheme of excitation control and STAT-COM control.

Decentralized Hamiltonian control of isolated AC microgrids: Theory & design

open access: closed2015 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT ASIA), 2015
Microgrids technology is the cornerstone of smart grid, the electricity network of the future. Based on distributed generation, microgrids can contribute to increase the penetration rate of renewable energy resources and hence reduce costs and gas emissions.

On the use of Hamiltonian and maximized Hamiltonian in nondifferentiable control theory

Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 1985
In optimal control problems involving nondifferentiable functions of the state variable, the adjoint differential inclusion can be formulated by either use of the Hamiltonian or the maximized Hamiltonian. In this paper, we solve a production-employment model in which the latter approach must be utilized, since the former does not enable one to ...

Hamiltonian structures in optimal control theory

Journal of Dynamical and Control Systems, 1995
The concept of a piecewise smooth Hamiltonian system, motivated by optimal control theory, is introduced and developed. It is proved that the Poisson bracket of two integrals of such a system is globally continuous. Integrable piecewise smooth systems are proved to be equivalent to smooth integrable systems.

Hamiltonian theory applied to ameliorate the complexity of tcp network congestion control

open access: closed2017 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC), 2017
An active queue management controller based on Hamiltonian energy theory for a class of nonlinear TCP network congestion system in the p resence of uncertain parameters and unknown external disturbances is derived. The restriction of inequality assumption is eliminated by introducing the MiniMax methods into dissipation Hamilton system.

Nonlinear Control of SVG Based on Hamiltonian Energy Theory

open access: closedApplied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Establish the practical mathematic model of Synchronous Generator in the static var generator (SVG) of single machine infinite bus power system. Based on Hamiltonian energy theory, the new nonlinear controller is designed between the SVG which is installed in the bus voltage of system and synchronous machine excitation. This controller directly use the
