On bi-Hamiltonian structures

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1990
The definition of a bi-Hamiltonian structure is reviewed, and it is shown that for systems of differential equations of the form ẋ=v(x) on even-dimensional manifolds, there always exists locally a bi-Hamiltonian structure. If this structure is ‘‘global,’’ then the system of equations is integrable.

Hamiltonian structure of discrete soliton systems

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 2002
Summary: We describe an approach for investigating the Hamiltonian structures of the lattice isospectral evolution equations associated with a general discrete spectral problem. By using the so-called implicit representations of the isospectral flows, we demonstrate the existence of the recursion operator \(L\), which is a strong and hereditary ...

Hamiltonian and quasi-Hamiltonian systems, Nambu–Poisson structures and symmetries

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical, 2008
The theory of Hamiltonian and quasi-Hamiltonian systems with respect to Nambu–Poisson structures is studied. It is proved that if a dynamical system is endowed with certain properties related to the theory of symmetries then it can be considered as a quasi-Hamiltonian (or Hamiltonian) system with respect to an appropriate Nambu–Poisson structure ...

Variational identities and Hamiltonian structures

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
This report is concerned with Hamiltonian structures of classical and super soliton hierarchies. In the classical case, basic tools are variational identities associated with continuous and discrete matrix spectral problems, targeted to soliton equations derived from zero curvature equations over general Lie algebras, both semisimple and non‐semisimple.

Linearized structures of lagrangian, hamiltonian, and quasi-hamiltonian systems

Physics Letters A, 1986
Abstract Linearized structures are found for general lagrangian, hamiltonian, and quasi-hamiltonian systems, as well as for Lax and zero-curvature representations.

Hamiltonian Structure of Non-Abelian Toda Lattice

Letters in Mathematical Physics, 1998
The question of whether the finite non-periodic non-Abelian Toda lattice be completely integrable in the Liouville sense was raised by \textit{A. G. Reyman} and \textit{M. A. Semenov-Tian-Shansky} [see Dynamical Systems VII, Encycl. Math. Sci. 16, 83-259 (1994); translation from Itogi Nauki Tekh., Ser. Sovrem. Probl. Mat., Fundam.
