Basicity Characterization of Imidazolyl Ionic Liquids and Their Application for Biomass Dissolution

open access: yesInternational Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2018
Alkalinity determination is of crucial significance for the applications of basic ionic liquids with imidazolyl. In this work, the ionization constant pKb value and acid function H- values of ionic liquids synthesized were calculated by pH method and UV ...

Resonance Effect in Hammett Relationship. IV. Linear Free Energy Relationship based on the Normal Substituent Constants [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1966
Abstract A set of normal substituent constants, σ0, was derived from the rates of alkaline hydrolysis of m- and p-substituted ethyl phenylacetates in 60% (v/v) aqeuous acetone at 25.0°C. The obtained values of σ0-constants were generally identical with Taft’s values within experimental uncertainty.

Water, Alcohols, Amines, and Amides as Formal Hydrogen‐Atom‐Transfer Reagents Through Activation With Redox‐Active Lewis Acids

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Protic molecules containing strong O─H or N─H bonds typically resist hydrogen‐atom abstraction because of the high reactivity of the resulting heteroatom‐centered radicals. However, association of the protic molecules with redox‐active Lewis acids can provide powerful hydrogen‐atom donors or proton‐coupled‐electron‐transfer reagents.

Borylcyclopropanes: Synthetic Strategies and Applications

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Borylcyclopropanes (cyclopropanes bearing a boron substituent) sit at the intersection of two privileged frameworks in synthesis. This review provides the first exhaustive survey of their chemistry, spanning metal–carbene, nucleophilic cyclization, radical, hydroboration, and C─H activation routes, and documenting applications in medicinal chemistry ...

Kinetics and Mechanism of Oxidation of Aromatic Aldehydes by Imidazolium Dichromate in Aqueous Acetic Acid Medium

open access: yesE-Journal of Chemistry, 2009
The kinetics of oxidation of benzaldehyde (BA) and para-substituted benzaldehydes by imidazolium dichromate (IDC) has been studied in aqueous acetic acid medium in the presence of perchloric acid.

The Hammett Relationship in the Reduction of Aldehydes with 2-Propanol by Catalysis with Hydrous Zirconium Oxide [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1988
Abstract A linear correlation of the Hammett relationship was obtained for a catalytic reduction of substituted benzaldehydes with 2-propanol with hydrous zirconium oxide. The reaction constant ρ was 1.35, indicating that the electronic effect on the reaction is larger than that on the standard one.

An Enantioselective Alkene Aminoarylation to Form Chiral Indolines via Electrostatically‐Directed Palladium Catalysis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Enantioselective aminoarylation of ortho‐allyl anilines is achieved under mild conditions. Key to success is the electrostatically‐directed nature of the key aminopalladation step, achieved by using the sulfonated chiral ligand sSPhos on palladium. A detailed study of electronic trends allows tuning of the sulfonamide protecting group to enable good ...

Theoretical Calculation of Hammett Constants for Benzoic Acid and Its Derivatives Using AM1-DFT Method

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Pure Science
The Hammett equation constants were calculated theoretically by statistically correlating the practical Hammett equation constants for these compounds with several theoretically calculated structural properties.

Leveraging graph neural networks to predict Hammett’s constants for benzoic acid derivatives

open access: yesArtificial Intelligence Chemistry
The Hammett constants, σm and σp, reflect the electron-withdrawing and electron-donating abilities of substituents on aromatic compounds, and have been successfully used in various structure-activity relationship studies.
