Plasmalogenase in hamster heart

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1985
In this study, the presence of plasmalogenase for the hydrolysis of the alk-1-enyl bond at the C-1 position of 1-alkenyl-2-acyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (ethanolamine plasmalogens) in the hamster heart was examined. A new spectrophotometric assay was developed for this study, in which the aldehyde released by the hydrolysis of the plamalogenase

Experimental cryptosporidiosis in hamsters

Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1990
A new laboratory animal model for experimental cryptosporidiosis is described. Adult immunosuppressed hamsters were infected per os with 0.5 x 10(5) and 1 x 10(5) Cryptosporidium oocysts of calf origin. The mean numbers of oocysts shed per gram of feces per day and the patterns of infection are described. The susceptibility to Cryptosporidium infection,

Renal transplantation in hamsters

Microsurgery, 1981
AbstractHamsters have never before been used for experimental kidney transplantation. An original anesthetic and microsurgical protocol is presented for renal transplantation in hamsters based on a series of 152 orthotopic renal transplantations. The operation is performed with the animal under general anesthesia of acepromazine and sodium thiopental ...

The Laboratory Hamster

2017
Syrian hamsters are a favored model for yellow fever research for both study of the pathogenesis and investigation of candidate therapeutics. Syrian hamsters also continue to play a key role in research into lipid and glucose metabolism, aging, skeletal and cardiac muscular dystrophy, oral carcinogenesis, and circadian rhythm.

Block of Ca2+ wave and Ca2+ oscillation by antibody to the inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor in fertilized hamster eggs.

Science, 1992
The concentration of cytoplasmic free calcium (Ca2+) increases in various stimulated cells in a wave (Ca2+ wave) and in periodic transients (Ca2+ oscillations).

Elimination of metabolic cooperation in Chinese hamster cells by a tumor promoter.

Science, 1979
Wild-type Chinese hamster V79 cells (6-thioguanine-sensitive) reduce the recovery of 6-thioguanine-resistant cells when they are cultured together at high densities, through a form of intercellular communication (metabolic cooperation).

Prolylhydroxyproline Absorption in Hamsters

Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1972
The intestinal transport of the dipeptide prolylhydroxyproline was investigated using hamsters and segments of hamster small intestines. The feeding of prolylhydroxyproline to hamsters resulted in the urinary excretion of 2% of the ingested dipeptide after 3 h or 7% after 24 h.

Ataxic Syrian Hamster

2013
A spontaneous genetic model of cerebellar ataxia in the Syrian hamster (Mesocricetus auratus) is described. The homozygous mutant hamsters are smaller than the unaffected littermates but have a normal appearance. They develop progressive, but moderate ataxia beginning at 7 weeks of age.

Die Klasse Hamster

2004

Biotin deficiency in the hamster

Experientia, 1958
