The role of muscle forces on rotational and cranio‐caudal stability in the intact and CCL‐deficient stifle: An ex vivo biomechanical study

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To investigate the effects of muscle activation on internal tibial rotation and cranio‐caudal translation (CCT) in intact and cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) deficient stifles. Study design Ex vivo biomechanical study. Animals Eight cadaveric, nonpaired canine stifles.

Isometric training at longer muscle–tendon complex lengths: A potential countermeasure to impaired neuro‐muscle–tendon function during space travel

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Manned space exploration to distant destinations, including Mars, continues to be an aspiration of humankind. Space travel does, however, present many challenges to the body, amongst which adaptation to microgravity is perhaps the largest. For instance, both short and long manned spaceflight missions have shown substantial deleterious effects ...

Impact of heat exposure during immobilization‐induced de‐training and re‐training on aerobic capacity and haemoglobin mass

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract The aim of this work was to assess the effect of heat exposure on cardiorespiratory and haematological responses during de‐training and re‐training. Nineteen men (33.8 ± 2.7 years; 182 ± 5.7 cm, 84.4 ± 9.3 kg) completed 4 weeks of pre‐training followed by heat exposure (HEAT; n = 9) or control (CON; n = 10).

Effects of bed rest and immobilization on intramuscular and intermuscular adipose tissue: A systematic review

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Muscle disuse caused by bed rest and immobilization is associated with muscle atrophy and insulin resistance, which might be related to increases in intramuscular fat (IntraMAT) and intermuscular fat (InterMAT) accumulation. In this systematic review, we compiled evidence on the effects of bed rest and unilateral lower‐limb immobilization on ...

Associations Between the Horizontal Force‐Velocity Profile and Change of Direction Asymmetries and Phase‐Specific Performance in Elite U21 Football Players

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science, Volume 26, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The horizontal force–velocity profile (H‐FVP) provides insights into sprint mechanical capacities, but its relationship with change of direction (COD) performance, inter‐limb asymmetry, and phase‐specific outcomes in elite football remains unclear.
