Algerian diversity in human structure and its size has contributed alot to the expansion of the knowledge of Islamic science. This is reflected during the time Ottoma Empire in Central Morocco the current Algeria, were the Hanafi doctrine was the authority doctrine used in the empire.

Of the four main Sunnī schools of law, the Ḥanafī school and its eponymous founder Abū Ḥanīfa (d. 767) have historically been labelled by their opponents as ahl al-ra’y (those who prefer reason over Ḥadīth (Prophetic reports)). This issue was quite charged in the early period of the development of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence).
