Improving Knowledge to prevent Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) or Singapore Flu

open access: yesJ.Abdimas, 2022

Hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD): A case report. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Oral Maxillofac Pathol
Abstract Hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) is a viral highly contagious disease affecting mostly infants and children and occasionally adults. It has become a significant public health problem because of frequent outbreaks and rise in its incidence, severity and fatal complications in Southeast Asian countries in the last few decades. India

First Report of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) Outbreak in the West Bank, Palestine: Molecular Characterization of Coxsackievirus A16 (CV-A16). [PDF]

open access: yesCan J Infect Dis Med Microbiol
Introduction: Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a mild self‐limited childhood infectious disease caused by a variety of enteroviruses (EVs). Aim: To investigate the molecular epidemiology of EVs associated with HFMD and their clinical presentation during the HFMD outbreak that occurred in the Jenin district, Palestine, from May to August 2024 ...

Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) in India: A Review on Clinical Manifestations, Molecular Epidemiology, Pathogenesis, and Prevention. [PDF]

open access: yesIndian Dermatol Online J, 2023
HFMD is a childhood viral disease initiated by enteroviruses (EVs). Symptoms are initiated with mild-to-moderate fever of short duration followed by oral and skin lesions. Skin lesions are papulovesicular which appears on palms/soles of feet, hands, knees, and elbows. Oral lesions appear as vesicles producing multiple small superficial ulcers.

Whole-genome sequencing and phylogenetic analysis of coxsackievirus-A16 strains causing hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) in India. [PDF]

open access: yesMicrob Genom, 2023
Hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) is a common childhood infectious disease, caused by enteroviruses (EVs), which can present with typical or atypical lesions. The illness is self-limiting, but it can also have serious complications. Since 1997, HFMD infections have become endemic and have increased to epidemic proportions across the Asia Pacific ...

From Monovalent to Multivalent Vaccines, the Exploration for Potential Preventive Strategies Against Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD). [PDF]

open access: yesVirol Sin, 2021
Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) recently emerged as a global public threat. The licensure of inactivated enterovirus A71 (EV-A71) vaccine was the first step in using a vaccine to control HFMD. New challenges arise from changes in the pathogen spectrum while vaccines directed against other common serotypes are in the preclinical stage.

Tracking and predicting hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) epidemics in China by Baidu queries. [PDF]

open access: yesEpidemiol Infect, 2017
SUMMARYHand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is highly prevalent in China, and more efficient methods of epidemic detection and early warning need to be developed to augment traditional surveillance systems. In this paper, a method that uses Baidu search queries to track and predict HFMD epidemics is presented, and the outbreaks of HFMD in China during ...

The threshold effects of meteorological factors on Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) in China, 2011. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep, 2016
AbstractWe explored the threshold effects of meteorological factors on hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) in mainland China to improve the prevention and early warning. Using HFMD surveillance and meteorological data in 2011, we identified the threshold effects of predictors on the monthly incidence of HFMD and predicted the high risk months, with ...

Modeling and preventive measures of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) in China. [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Environ Res Public Health, 2014
This paper concentrates on the HFMD data of China from March 2009 to December 2012. We set up a mathematical model to fit those data with the goodness of fit and obtain the optimal parameter values of the model. By the Chi-square test of statistical inference, the optimal parameter values of the model are reasonable.
