Cobalt/Photoredox Catalyzed Desymmetrization of Oxo and Azabicycles via Asymmetric Reductive Coupling With Alkynes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A one‐step, asymmetric reductive coupling of alkynes and oxa‐ and aza‐bicyclic olefins using a cobalt/photoredox catalytic system through desymmetrization. ABSTRACT Bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane frameworks represent a privileged structural motif prevalent in numerous natural products and bioactive molecules.

Dynamic Self‐Clickable Decellularized Matrix Hydrogels for Regulating Vascularity and Enhancing Muscle Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dynamic decellularized hydrogels are prepared using bovine decellularized small intestine submucosa (SIS) norbornene (dSIS‐NB). Bovine dSIS contained significant amounts of disulfide‐rich fibrillin‐I, enabling ‘self‐clickable’ thiol‐norbornene gelation and spatiotemporal tuning of hydrogel physicochemical properties.

Study in vitro and in vivo on the synergy between iodophor-impregnated incision drapes and antisepsis with 2% chlorhexidine-70% isopropanol or 10% iodine povidone

open access: yes, 2021
Background: If the previous antisepsis is done with povidone iodine (PVP-I), iodophore-impregnated incision drapes (Ioban2) will not diminish surgical site infection (SSI). Could they do so if antisepsis were done with chlorhexidine 2% in isopropanol 70%

Historical birth records from 1896 to 1944 from the Basel maternity hospital, Switzerland, reveal significant obstetric selection pressures

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality have declined dramatically during the last century. Historical data are therefore important sources to study the evolutionary selection pressures related to childbirth and how they have fluctuated over time.

Effect on the reduction of bacterial load after surgical hand antisepsis with triclosan 0.5% compared to triclosan 0.5% followed by 70% alcoholic solution

open access: yes, 2021
Triclosan 0.5% by scrubbing does not meet the UNE-EN12791 criteria to be used in the surgical hand preparation (SHP). Triclosan 0.5% by scrubbing followed by ethanol 70% hand rubbing is suitable without the additional characteristic of sustained effect ...
