Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...

Tendon Transfer on the Impaired Hand by Injuries
Impairment of hand function results from irreversible damage to the central nervous system, failure of repair to peripheral nerve injuries, and long-tam defects of muscles or tendons due to traumatic, congenital, infectious, or vascular causes.

We report a multifunctional tapered optical fiber integrating a conformal micro‐resistance temperature detector (µRTD) for local, real‐time thermometry during optical stimulation. The platform combines light‐delivery and temperature sensing within a minimally invasive footprint, enabling detection of sub‐degree cortical heating under representative ...

Orthopaedic injuries to the hand and wrist
Almost any type of hand injury can occur during sport and few, if any, hand-specific injuries occur uniquely during sporting activity. Therefore this chapter will be restricted to injuries that are part of the common spectrum of hand and wrist injuries ...

Dexime: A Selectively Enzyme‐Degradable Hydrogel for Protein Therapeutic Release
A dextrin‐oxime hydrogel (dexime) is produced using ketone or aldehyde modified dextrin and tetra‐oxyamine modified poly(ethylene glycol). The rheological and mechanical properties of dexime are tunable. Dexime is injectable, cytocompatible, hydrolytically stable, and selectively degradable by α‐amylase.

Controlling the protein corona formation onto carbon nanomaterials (CNMs) enhances their functionalities as platforms for cancer theranostics. Here, we reviewed the effects of the intrinsic and acquired properties of CNMs on protein corona formation, the consequent biological and toxicological outcomes, and the strategies to reshape corona formation ...

Improving Access for Acute Hand Injuries
Acute hand and upper extremity injuries represent 30% of our new patient visits, of which 10% require urgent surgery. The current ability of the hand team to quickly see urgent hand injuries in clinic is limited by scheduling and communication barriers ...
