Definition and Quantification of Shock/Impact/Transient Vibrations [PDF]
Vibration injury in the hand-arm system from hand-held machines is one of the most common occupational health injuries and causes severe and often chronic nerve and vascular injury to the operator. Machines emitting shock vibrations, e.g., impact wrenches have since long been identified as a special risk factor.

Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

Egocentric Video: A New Tool for Capturing Hand Use of Individuals with Spinal Cord Injury at Home [PDF]
Current upper extremity outcome measures for persons with cervical spinal cord injury (cSCI) lack the ability to directly collect quantitative information in home and community environments. A wearable first-person (egocentric) camera system is presented that can monitor functional hand use outside of clinical settings.

Alectinib resistance in ALK+ NSCLC depends on treatment sequence and EML4‐ALK variants. Variant 1 exhibited off‐target resistance after first‐line treatment, while variant 3 and later lines favored on‐target mutations. Early resistance involved off‐target alterations, like MET and NF2, while on‐target mutations emerged with prolonged therapy.

A cost effective eye movement tracker based wheel chair control algorithm for people with paraplegia [PDF]
Spinal cord injuries can often lead to quadriplegia in patients limiting their mobility. Wheelchairs could be a good proposition for patients, but most of them operate either manually or with the help of electric motors operated with a joystick. This, however, requires the use of hands, making it unsuitable for quadriplegic patients.

SLC7A11 frequently migrates faster in SDS‐PAGE. The present study found that the high hydrophobicity of SLC7A11 causes its anomalous migration in SDS‐PAGE with a low concentration of acrylamide gel. Replacing isoleucine with asparagine reduced hydrophobicity and restored its normal migration at 55 kDa, revealing the role of hydrophobicity and gel ...
