Exception Handling in Workflow Systems [PDF]

open access: possibleApplied Intelligence, 2000
In this paper, defeasible workflow is proposed as a framework to support exception handling for workflow management. By using the “justified” ECA rules to capture more contexts in workflow modeling, defeasible workflow uses context dependent reasoning to enhance the exception handling capability of workflow management systems.

A Generic Control Architecture for Material Handling Systems Applied to a Baggage Handling System

Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Informatics in Control, Automation and Robotics, 2013
This paper is part of research on generic planning and control of automated Material Handling Systems (MHSs) in different industrial sectors. We build upon previous work to provide a proof of concept for the applicability of a generic control architecture on a specific MHS.

A novel material handling system

Proceedings of IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2002
In this paper, a novel material handling system is presented. An overview of the hardware is provided, and issues related to control of the arms are discussed. It is believed that when it is completed, use of this material handling system will help reduce or eliminate workplace back injuries due to repetitive lifting.
