Reliability of the Graphoanalytic Approach to Handwriting Analysis

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1964
Three graphoanalysts judged specimens of handwriting for five personality traits: attention to detail, domineeringness, persistence, self-consciousness, and stubbornness. The average inter-judge correlation was .78. Reliability is, therefore, established. Advantages of handwriting analysis that enhance its potential validity are pointed out, especially

Automatic analysis of handwriting for gender classification

Pattern Analysis and Applications, 2014
This paper presents a study to predict gender of individuals from scanned images of their handwritings. The proposed methodology is based on extracting a set of features from writing samples of male and female writers and training classifiers to learn to discriminate between the two.

A computational procedure for movement analysis in handwriting

Journal of Neuroscience Methods, 1994
Validity of handwriting movement data recorded with digitizing tablets is poorly reflected by manufacturer's specifications. Actual errors of positional data are in fact in a critical range, in particular when time derivatives are calculated. Because differentiation magnifies errors in the displacement data, data smoothing becomes crucial. A new method

Alcohol consumption and handwriting: A kinematic analysis

Human Movement Science, 2009
Cerebellar dysfunction is associated with deficits in the control of movement extent, as well as changes in the amplitude and relative amounts of acceleration and deceleration and action tremor. The present study sought to identify whether cerebellar symptoms occur in the handwriting of intoxicated individuals.

EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF INDIVIDUALITY OF JAPANESE HANDWRITING

International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence, 2009
A handwriting examination to determine the writer (writer verification and writer identification) is based upon the hypothesis that each person has characteristic handwriting that is distinct from the handwriting of other individuals. This hypothesis has been accepted empirically through many case studies.

Handwriting Analysis Through Graphology: A Review

2018 International Conference on Advances in Computing, Communications and Informatics (ICACCI), 2018
Graphology assists in interpreting a person's character and identity attributes by analysing the handwriting. Graphology is the investigation of the sensible state of mind at the time of writing. These thoughtfully give understanding into the morality, hidden talents and enthusiastic conditions of the writer or artist.

Handwriting Analysis in Diagnosis and Treatment of Alcoholism

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1986
This preliminary study of the alcoholic personality, based on handwriting material before and after the over-indulgence period shows a characteristic dynamic development which could be manifest in different forms. The prealcoholic individual apparently was subjected to a strong discipline by a strict Super-ego, and at the same time being quite ...

A computer system for graphometric handwriting analysis

Proceedings of the International Conference on Computer Systems and Technologies and Workshop for PhD Students in Computing, 2009
A computer-based handwriting analysis system is described. It realizes the graphometric approach based on the measurement of geometric features. A user-friendly interface allows the expert to select characteristic points on the letter shape and define the parameters that have to be measured.

GRAPHJ: A Forensics Tool for Handwriting Analysis

2017
Handwriting analysis is a standard forensics practice to assess the identity of a person from written documents. Forensic document examiners consider different features related to the motion and pressure of the hand, as well as the shape of the different characters and the spatial relationship among them.
