Generating Function Associated with the Determinant Formula for the Solutions of the Painleve' II Equation [PDF]
In this paper we consider a Hankel determinant formula for generic solutions of the Painleve' II equation. We show that the generating functions for the entries of the Hankel determinants are related to the asymptotic solution at infinity of the linear ...

ABSTRACT We have studied possible applications of a particular pseudodifferential algebra in singular analysis for the construction of fundamental solutions and Green's functions of a certain class of elliptic partial differential operators. The pseudodifferential algebra considered in the present work, comprises degenerate partial differential ...

Space‐Time Smoothness and Parsimony in Covariance Functions
ABSTRACT This paper challenges the trade off between computational efficiency and statistical accuracy within the framework of Gaussian space‐time processes. Under such a framework, the space‐time dependence is completely specified through the space‐time covariance function.

Discrete Toeplitz/Hankel determinants and the width of non-intersecting processes [PDF]
We show that the ratio of a discrete Toeplitz/Hankel determinant and its continuous counterpart equals a Freholm determinant involving continuous orthogonal polynomials.

The Hurwitz-type theorem for the regular Coulomb wave function via Hankel determinants
We derive a closed formula for the determinant of the Hankel matrix whose entries are given by sums of negative powers of the zeros of the regular Coulomb wave function.

Flow Memory Effect on Open‐Frame Remotely Operated Vehicle Motion
ABSTRACT The flow memory effect is a kind of viscous force caused by acceleration between continuous phases and underwater vehicles and the development of the boundary layer near the interfacial surface. This paper establishes a 6‐degrees‐of‐freedom unsteady equation of motion describing the flow memory effect on viscous hydrodynamic loads.

What is a vector Hankel determinant
AbstractIn this paper, a Hankel determinant whose entries belong to a real finite dimensional vector space is defined. Such a Hankel determinant appears, purely as a computational process result (lacking of any property), in the algebraic approach to the vector ε-algorithm and in the theory of vector orthogonal polynomials.

On Bergman–Toeplitz operators in periodic planar domains
Abstract We study spectra of Toeplitz operators Ta$T_a$ with periodic symbols in Bergman spaces A2(Π)$A^2(\Pi)$ on unbounded singly periodic planar domains Π$\Pi$, which are defined as the union of infinitely many copies of the translated, bounded periodic cell ϖ$\varpi$.

The Schwarzian derivative of a function f(x) which is defined in the interval (a, b) having higher order derivatives is given by Sf(x)=(f''(x)/f'(x))'-1/2(f''(x)/f'(x))^2 .

Structured Nuclear Norm Matrix Completion: Guaranteeing Exact Recovery via Block‐Column Scaling
ABSTRACT The goal of low‐rank matrix completion is to minimize the rank of a matrix while adhering to the constraint that known (non‐missing) elements are fixed in the approximation. Minimizing rank is a difficult, non‐convex, NP‐hard problem, often addressed by substituting rank with the nuclear norm to achieve a convex relaxation.
