[Hantaan virus infection in Twente].
Nederlands tijdschrift voor geneeskunde, 1991To find out if Hantavirus infection, as a cause of acute renal failure, has been overlooked in the past. To determine if Hantavirus can be found in wild rodents, particularly in red bank voles (Clethrionomys glareolus), living in the area.General hospital, Twente area.Retrospective selection of patients, hospitalised between 1970 and 1989 with renal ...

Antigenic subunits of Hantaan virus expressed by baculovirus and vaccinia virus recombinants
Journal of Virology, 1990Baculovirus and vaccinia virus vectors were used to express the small (S) and medium (M) genome segments of Hantaan virus. Expression of the complete S or M segments yielded proteins electrophoretically indistinguishable from Hantaan virus nucleocapsid protein or envelope glycoproteins (G1 and G2), and expression of portions of the M segment, encoding ...

Identification of hantaan virus messenger RNA species
Virus Research, 1985Abstract : The coding strategy of Hantaan (HTN) virus was examined by translation of intracellular viral RNA species and by hybridization of cDNA probes to infected cell lysates. A polypeptide with a molecular weight of approximately 50 000 was generated in rabbit reticulocyte lysates. This polypeptide originated from a message which correspond in size

Expression strategy of the M genome segment of Hantaan virus
Virus Research, 1994The medium (M) genome segment of Hantaan virus encodes the envelope glycoproteins, G1 and G2, in a continuous open reading frame with a gene order of 5'-G1-G2-3' with respect to the virus-complementary sense RNA. Because potential translation initiation codons and amino acids constituting typical signal sequences precede both the G1 and G2 genes, we ...

Serological Evidence of Hantaan Virus Infection in the United States
The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1985We found low titers of fluorescent antibodies against Hantaan virus, the etiologic agent of Korean hemorrhagic fever, in sera from 7 of 1,035 patients with febrile illnesses of unknown origin and from 6 of 664 blood donors in the United States. All but 1 of these individuals possessed neutralizing antibodies against Hantaan virus.
