Haptoglobin Groups and Leukemia
Human Heredity, 1984Haptoglobin groups were studied in 100 leukemia patients and controls. Previously reported associations with Hp1-1 and the Hp1 gene by other investigators were not confirmed. In agreement with a previous observation a significant increase of ahaptoglobinemia (Hp0) was found among the leukemia patients.

Haptoglobin Polymorphism and Infection
2010The haptoglobin gene is highly polymorphic in humans with strong evidence of functionally distinct biochemical phenotypes. In all human populations, three major haptoglobin phenotypes Hp 1-1, Hp 2-1, and Hp 2-2 are present, but additional phenotypes have been identified. Haptoglobin polymorphism has important biological and clinical significance.

Haptoglobins in the Maltese Population
Medicine, Science and the Law, 1979Haptoglobin (Hp) phenotyping was carried out on 535 healthy blood donors, 467 patients hospitalized in Malta and on 53 hospital patients from Gozo. The frequencies in the three groups were compared. No statistical differences were observed between these three groups. Only 7·5 per cent of cord blood samples could be phenotyped.
