Mycotic Otitis Media in a Harbour Porpoise (Phocoena phocoena)

Journal of Comparative Pathology, 2010
A 9-year-old by-caught harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena) was subject to routine post-mortem examination. Major findings included parasitic infection (Stenurus minor) of the left middle ear and severe mycotic infection of the right middle ear. The morphological appearance of the causative organism was consistent with Aspergillus fumigatus.

Mass mortality in harbour seals and harbour porpoises caused by an unknown pathogen

Veterinary Record, 2008
EPIDEMICS caused by phocine distemper virus (pdv) resulted in mass mortalities of European harbour seals ( Phoca vitulina ) in 1988 and 2002 ([Harkonen and others 2006][1]). A third epidemic started in June 2007; the gross pathological changes observed in seals that died in the 2007 outbreak ...

Organochlorines in Danish and West Greenland harbour porpoises

Marine Pollution Bulletin, 1991
Abstract Concentrations of organochlorines in the blubber of 27 harbour porpoises ( Phocoena phocoena ) collected from 1986 to 1988 in Danish North Sea and Baltic waters and two harbour porpoises collected in 1988 in West Greenland are reported. Comparisons with previous Danish findings reveal a lower contamination level than in the 1970s and early ...
