Exploration of heterogeneity and recurrence signatures in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study leveraged public datasets and integrative bioinformatic analysis to dissect malignant cell heterogeneity between relapsed and primary HCC, focusing on intercellular communication, differentiation status, metabolic activity, and transcriptomic profiles.

The Infinite Hierarchical Factor Regression Model [PDF]

open access: yesNIPS 2008, 2009
We propose a nonparametric Bayesian factor regression model that accounts for uncertainty in the number of factors, and the relationship between factors. To accomplish this, we propose a sparse variant of the Indian Buffet Process and couple this with a hierarchical model over factors, based on Kingman's coalescent. We apply this model to two problems (

Domain wall release in “hard” piezoelectric under continuous large amplitude ac excitation

open access: yes, 2007
Systematic investigation of large amplitude ac excitation effects on the polarization–electric-field (P-E) and strain–electric-field (e-E) characteristics of both “hard” and “soft” Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 ceramics was performed.

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Annotated Bibliography: The Reference Desk: Grand Idea or Gone Down the River?

open access: yes, 2018
This bibliography is from a panel presentation at the 2017 ACL Conference. The goal of this panel was to explore different rationales or sets of values that illustrated the continuation of the reference desk and reference service as essential to the ...

"A Factor Allocation Approach to Optimal Bond Portfolio" [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper proposes a new method to a bond portfolio problem in a multi-period setting. In particular, we apply a factor allocation approach to constructing the optimal bond portfolio in a class of multi-factor Gaussian yield curve models. In other words,

Study of β-Cyclodextrin Effect on Acidity Constant of 2-(2H-Benzo(d)(1,2,3) triazol-2-yl) phenol by Spectrophotometry

open access: yesE-Journal of Chemistry, 2010
The interaction of solutes with β-cyclodextrin leads to apparent changes in their chemical properties, such as shifts in their absorption spectra and acid-base equilibrium.

New Pivot Selection for Sparse Symmetric Indefinite Factorization [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
We propose a new pivot selection technique for symmetric indefinite factorization of sparse matrices. Such factorization should maintain both sparsity and numerical stability of the factors, both of which depend solely on the choices of the pivots. Our method is based on the minimum degree algorithm and also considers the stability of the factors at ...

Chemoresistome mapping in individual breast cancer patients unravels diversity in dynamic transcriptional adaptation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study used longitudinal transcriptomics and gene‐pattern classification to uncover patient‐specific mechanisms of chemotherapy resistance in breast cancer. Findings reveal preexisting drug‐tolerant states in primary tumors and diverse gene rewiring patterns across patients, converging on a few dysregulated functional modules. Despite receiving the

The Pulsed Spectra of Two Extraordinary Pulsars

open access: yes, 2004
We report on X-ray monitoring of two isolated pulsars within the same RXTE field of view. PSR J1811-1925 in the young supernova remnant G11.2-0.3 has a nearly sinusoidal pulse profile with a hard pulsed spectrum (photon index \~1.2).
